I Tried 3 Different Charcoal Face Masks and My Skin Has Never Felt Better

Charcoal face masks are where it's at when it comes to skincare.

Like many of you, I am willing to try anything to achieve a flawless complexion.

So off I went to test out three different charcoal-based masks to see how they would help improve my skin. Keep scrolling to find out what happened!

Mask #1: Yes to Tomatoes Charcoal Paper Mask

Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Paper Face Mask

How it works: This detoxifying paper mask works hard to unclog your pores of dirt and oil. It's a great mask to use if you have oily skin.

Cost: $3

My thoughts: I have no problem telling all of you that I have pretty oily skin, so I was more than elated to try on this mask.

There was a nice tingly feeling happening on my face while wearing the mask, which is supposed to happen. But the instructions do warn that if the feeling gets to be a little out of control, you should probably take it off.

Normally I wake up with my skin drenched in oil. But after using the charcoal mask the night before, that didn't happen—yay! You can guarantee I'll be using this mask more often in my life to keep my pores as clean as can be.

Mask #2: Célavi Charcoal Facial Mask

How it works: Purifying and refining, this charcoal mask detoxifies your skin to give you a smooth and glowing complexion. It also aids in minimizing the appearance of pores.

Cost: $3

My thoughts: I must admit that I was a bit taken off-guard when I removed this mask from its package and it wasn't black, but nonetheless it still did its job.

I don't really have noticeably large pores, so I wasn't too concerned with the mask correcting that. I'm not the best about washing my face regularly, so I was really hoping it'd get deep into the crevices of my skin to clean out all the dirt and oil that lies beneath. And it did just that. My skin felt cleaner than it's ever felt when I woke up the next morning. Before I put the mask on, I felt a pimple forming, but it was no longer there the following morning.

One thing I really liked about the mask was its comfortability. It honestly didn't feel like I was wearing a mask at all, even though I had it on for the maximum of 20 minutes.

Mask #3: Boscia Charcoal Pore-Minimizing Hydrogel Mask

Boscia Charcoal Hydrogel Mask

How it works: The hydrogel mask removes blackheads and absorbs dirt that gets stuck in your pores to improve your skin's overall look and feel. Minimizing your pores is also a benefit of this mask.

Cost: $8

My thoughts: This fancy-schmancy mask promises to do a lot to help your skin, so I was more than ready to put it to the test.

Putting it on was a bit of an ordeal, because it came in two pieces. I applied the lower piece with ease, but it took me a few tries to properly put on the top portion. When both sets of the mask were on, it contoured so nicely to the curves of my face. It's by far the sleekest and smoothest face mask I've ever used. I'm still impressed by how well it formed to my face.

Once I took the mask off after 15 minutes, the package advised to rub the excess residue into my face. This made my skin feel a bit sticky, but I could really feel its cleaning power coming to life. I woke up the next morning with my skin feeling beyond fresh. It was definitely brighter and clean as can be.

All in all, each mask did its job and they all made my skin look utterly flawless. I highly recommend trying each of them, but my favorite was the Boscia one. Minus the troublesome application ordeal, it promised a lot and really delivered. I'd use it every day for the rest of my life, if that were possible.
