16 Things We Wish We’d Been Told Before Turning 16

16 is a major age for most teens, and not just because it's the year you can finally get your driver's license.

It's a pivotal year during high school when so much seems to be happening all at once, but we promise that it isn't all as bad as it sometimes feels. With that said, we're here to offer some advice to help you feel good about this time of your life, and we're doing so by laying out 16 things we wish we'd been told before turning 16.

1. That your best friends now probably won't be your best friends five years from now

2. That no one cares as much about your outfit as you do

3. That you don't need to waste so much time or energy torturing your hair just to get ready for school

4. That it's okay to fail sometimes

5. That you don't need to be naturally good at everything

6. That high school is not the most important time of your life

7. That you don't have to pretend to be "cool" for anyone
