A Definitive Ranking of Our Favorite Celebrity-Owned Makeup Brands
Once upon a time, I used to cringe at the idea of celebrity-endorsed anything. It often went hand-in-hand with products that weren't as good as they appeared. Thankfully, the market has changed, and most of the time, I now feel confident that a celebrity-owned product will be, at the very least, decent.
From Kylie Cosmetics to Rare Beauty, I've ranked some of my favorite and most impactful celebrity-owned makeup companies from the last decade. Keep reading to see how your favorite brand measured up.
6. Kylie Cosmetics
Putting together this ranking made me realize how much I forgot about Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Jenner's iconic lipstick reign during the early 2010s. Ah, memories.
I haven't revisited those lip kits in years because the basic shades (like Candy K and Dolce K) never looked good on me. My undertone made them look basically like my skin color and the formula wasn't my favorite, so I never wanted to look back. However, I now have the urge to revisit these products almost a decade later.
One thing that Kylie has always gotten right, though, is the adorable branding. The packaging was iconic, and the shade names were too.

5. about-face
Halsey's avant-garde about-face brand is very authentically her. These products are some of the best available for the more adventurous makeup users because of how many eccentric shades there are.
However, I'm pretty boring when it comes to makeup. Give me nude lipstick and rose-toned blush, and I'm good to go, which means that much of the products wouldn't fit into my makeup collection unless I needed it for a specific look.
4. r.e.m. beauty
I love Ariana Grande and the entire concept of r.e.m. beauty, but the actual products and quality didn't stick out to me. There isn't anything necessarily bad about them, but I'd likely look toward a drugstore brand for a cheaper price.
That said, there is one product I cannot live without: the lipstain marker. It has one of the easiest applicators that I've ever used. Like I previously mentioned, the concept of r.e.m. beauty is great—there are days when I want to purchase a product just for the aesthetic.
3. HAUS LABS
To be honest, I haven't tried any products from Lady Gaga's HAUS LABS other than the viral foundation, but that alone tells me enough about how great this brand is. HAUS LAB is one of the only brands that offer a shade that perfectly matches my skin, and its lightweight nature makes it feel like I'm not caking on product.
Beyond foundation, there aren't many products that I'd gravitate to for everyday wear, whether it be the product itself or the swatches available. I'd love to see Gaga introduce more items for natural looks.

2. Rare Beauty
You simply cannot argue about Rare Beauty's quality. It's better than some of the most luxurious makeup brands. Today, some of Selena Gomez's products are staples for everyone's collection—like the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.
Plus, it seems like Selena played a key role in (finally) shifting the standard from mostly powder to cream and liquid. I love the formula, I love the packaging and I most definitely love how uplifting the overall brand is.
1. Fenty Beauty
When Fenty Beauty launched in 2017, I was scared that the products would be low-quality and gimmicky, as most celebrity-speared brands and collaborations previously were. And at the time, Kylie's lip kits didn't complement my skin tone, so I never had the chance for my opinion to change years prior like other people did.
But Rihanna changed the celebrity-owned makeup brand game for me. She was the first person to have an expansive foundation shade range, and, in general, I love how unapologetic the brand's voice was and still is (that also perfectly captures the essence of who Rihanna is). I will forever be grateful to Rihanna for not only making some of the most high-quality products on the market but also making sure that it fits every skin color.
