A Definitive Ranking of Every Wilde Protein Chips Flavor

My No. 1 resolution for 2024 was to maintain my healthy habits. I've been consuming less junk food, sugary drinks and fast food. That said, I still a crave a salty bag of crisps. But rather than returning to my old picks, I found an equally good alternative: Wilde Protein Chips.

Wilde is the first brand of chips using 100% all-natural chicken breast, egg whites and bone broth. That means this delicious snack has plenty of nutrients and protein to satisfy your chip craving without sacrificing your health restrictions.

Last month, Wilde dropped a new flavor, Spicy Queso, to their already diverse roster. To celebrate the release, I tried every bag Wilde has offered. Here's my definitive ranking of them.

7. Himalayan Pink Salt

My issue with many protein-heavy snacks is their naturally bland flavor or chalky texture. Wilde has a much less potent protein chip flavor compared to other brands. However, the Himalayan Pink Salt isn't enough to completely mask it. Besides, Wilde has many flavors to choose from—and I'd rather go with something more exciting than salt.

6. Spicy Queso

I like this one, but I wish it had a more intense flavor. It smells like queso, but the flavor is faint. It's almost similar to the Himalayan Pink Salt. If they could triple the amount of seasoning, I'd bet this bag would be in my top three.

5. Nashville Hot

Usually, I appreciate anything Nashville Hot. However, I've burnt myself out from eating too many spicy tenders and chips. Even so, I still can get down with Wilde's because it has an authentic flavor. It's only because of my repetitive dietary choices that I don't eat them more often.

4. Barbecue

You can never go wrong with a timeless barbecue chip.

This one tastes nearly identical to a bag of Lay's BBQ chips—they have a similar smoky base. In general, I don't gravitate toward barbecue chips, but I sometimes crave them. Wilde gets the job done and well.

3. Sea Salt & Vinegar

Everything tastes better in salt and vinegar—nuts, popcorn and, obviously, Wilde chips. These have a powerful vinegar base, which I love, and the sea salt gives it that extra kick. If you don't think you can handle the protein chip flavor of Wilde, try the Sea Salt & Vinegar. You won't be able to distinguish these from a normal chip.

2. Buffalo Chicken

As someone who likes spicy food, I knew Buffalo Chicken would be one of my favorites. I feel like I'm actually biting into the wing because the chip already has those chicken ingredients.

You might be wondering—how does this differ from Nashville Hot? Buffalo sauce often uses vinegar. As you can tell from my opinions on Sea Salt & Vinegar, I love the tang.

1. Chicken & Waffles

I would have never predicted that Chicken & Waffles would be my highest-ranking flavor. Sure, I like chicken and waffles in real life, but it doesn't seem like one of those dishes that would translate well as a chip. However, it works surprisingly great and tastes exactly like the breakfast classic.

These chips are salty and sweet. I've recently discovered how underrated sweet chips are. Once I ate this bag, I immediately thought, "Why aren't other brands creating snacks in this flavor?"
