How Abby Anderson Saw the Light Side, Even in the Dark, With New Single ‘Bright Side of Blue’
With singer-songwriter Abby Anderson's latest single, "Bright Side of Blue," there's no question as to why Abby is one of country music's fastest-rising stars.
The captivating, soulful track is about Abby overcoming the troubles of her past and becoming her strongest, most confident self in the process, with an uplifting sound and empowering lyrics that fans will find hard to resist. It's the first single off her upcoming six-song project, set to arrive this summer, and in the meantime, Abby will also be keeping busy on the road. Starting next month, she'll be opening for Tim McGraw for seven shows across North America, as well as playing at Stagecoach and Wonderfront Festival, plus headline shows at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on June 1 and at the Troubador in West Hollywood on June 6—and that's just the start. 2024 is going to be massive for Abby, and we got the chance to ask her all about it in the interview below.
The Story Behind 'Bright Side of Blue'
Abby Anderson: I've had some low lows in my life, but I've always managed to find a smile. Even when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, I knew it was there, and I just kept going. One day I was writing with my dear friends Clara Calaway and Bonnie Dymond. Clara came in with the title "Bright Side of Blue," and as soon as she said it, I knew exactly what it meant and exactly how to write it. You can knock me down, you put me in the darkest and deepest of blues, but I'm going to find the bright side of it.

What 'Bright Side of Blue' Means
AA: "Bright Side of Blue" is my "keep on keepin' on" anthem. It reminds me I'm going to be just fine no matter what. I hope when listeners, and especially my fans, listen to it, they keep on going themselves. Keep chasing their dreams and go after what they truly want, no matter what.

Abby's Favorite Lyric
AA: I love the line, "You might have cut me loose, but I let you go." It puts the power in my hands. Yes, you may have broken my heart and told me I'd be no good, whatever. It may have even stung in the moment, but I chose to let that go. You have no power over me.
On Her Upcoming Project
AA: It's the perfect opener to the project. It sets the scene. Powerful, soulful and good songwriting (I'd like to think haha). It opens the gate to the sounds about to storm through it.

What's Next
AA: I'm going on tour with Tim McGraw, playing Stagecoach in April and got a couple headlining shows in June I'm stoked about. I just feel like I'm growing up and getting my wings. I'd like to think the music of this project reflects that.
Final Thoughts
AA: It feels like freedom to me, and I feel free singing it
