9 Activities to Do While You’re Watching TV

Watching TV for hours on end tends to leave us feeling sluggish.

And if you love bingeing the latest Netflix release or catching up with a hot new show on Peacock, you likely have hours and hours of watching time ahead of you. If you want to be a bit more productive, though, you've come to the right place. Look here for nine activities you can do while you're watching TV!

1. Diamond Art Club

If you like to keep your hands busy, we think Diamond Art Club is just the thing for you. It can take hours and hours to complete, and if you do it in segments, this could last you a good month or two. Basically, you choose an art piece and fill in the color-coordinated points with tiny little diamonds. The end result is a beautiful, shiny and sparkly picture you can store away or hang up!

2. Puzzle

Completing a puzzle is without a doubt one of the best feelings in the world and it's the perfect activity to do while watching TV. You can still be into your show while focusing on the puzzle at hand. Whether you're doing a quick 500 piece puzzle or are going for the gold with a 2,000 piece puzzle, as long as you have fun putting the corners together and filling it all in, that's all that matters.

3. Knit

No, knitting is not just for grandmothers! In fact, it's becoming more popular amongst the younger generations, and for good reason. Not only does it allow you to become skilled at something, but it makes your brain work in tune with your fingers. Plus, looking at your completed creation, whether it's a scarf, blanket or something else, is a great accomplishment in itself.

4. Stretch

When it comes to stretching, there is truly no way you can overdo it. In fact, stretching your body and muscles is so good for you, that you should do it every day! Instead of sitting or laying down on the couch, set aside a good chunk of time to stretch. Start out with your neck and shoulders, then move on to the joints in your elbows and wrists. Keep moving down your body until you feel more flexible and relaxed. This is also great if you plan on working out later that day, as you will be less likely to pull a muscle.

5. Doodle

Another fun activity you can do while watching TV is doodle! All you really need is a sheet of paper and a pencil or pen. From there, it's all up to you! Whether you draw squiggly lines, practice your name in cursive or try to draw a picture of something is entirely up to you. Plus, you can never do it wrong! Doodling is its own sort of art and you can draw whatever comes to your mind.

6. Needlework

If you're unfamiliar with needlework, it's actually quite fun and stimulating! Essentially, you have a needle strung up with a piece of thread, and you needle it through something, typically following a pattern. Whether it's on a piece of tapestry or a canvas of your choice, needlework can be relatively easy. It's fun to watch a piece of art come together and often looks great hung up on walls, especially when on a canvas.

7. Organize Email

Even though organizing your email may not seem like all that much fun, trust us when we say you will feel far better once it's all over and done with. If you're the type of person who lets their inbox get into the hundreds or even thousands, you've waited way too long to do this. Start by creating folders where you can save your emails and simply delete the rest that aren't of importance. Some folder examples include shopping, finances, school (or by each individual class) and more.

8. Pinterest

Going on Pinterest can sometimes be like entering a black hole, but if you have a plan in mind you should be able to be productive! Think of a board you want to create. Whether it's fashion inspo, beauty products you want to try, decor you love or even recipes, Pinterest is the place to do it. Start by searching relevant terms and pinning them to your board. It's honestly so easy and can be done even while you're watching TV.

9. Color

Last but not least, we suggest coloring. Not only is it fun, but it makes time go by, too. Head to Amazon and find a coloring book of your choice. And these days, there are so many cute ones to choose from! Plus, with adult-themed ones available, you won't have to worry about only finding coloring patterns for little kids. Instead, you can color things like flowers, tattoos, quotes and more! Just grab a coloring book and your favorite crayons, pens or markers and get to work.
