Alondra Delgado on Playing the New Coach’s Daughter, Vanessa, on the CW’s All American

If you've been watching (and loving) football drama All American on the CW, you know that tonight, July 5, is the big season finale.

We could not be more excited to tune in—and we're even more excited, because we got to chat with star Alondra Delgado, who plays Vanessa Montes, about it. In Season 3, she's the new girl in school and the daughter of the new head coach, resulting in a bit of drama along the way. We asked her all about the role, her favorite moments from the set and how her real-life feelings about football have changed over time.

Sweety High: Between acting, writing and producing do you have a favorite role to play?

Alondra Delgado: I love all of them. I think acting will always be my number one because it's what I've been doing longer and what I've always wanted. But I do love writing, not only scripts but poems and songs, and anything that helps me speak my mind.

SH: What's your favorite thing about being a part of the All American cast?

AD: The love and support from the fans. I was a fan of All American before I got cast, so it has been a special journey and the fans are amazing.

SH: In what ways are you and your character, Vanessa, similar? In what ways are you different?

AD: Vanessa and I are both the new people. She is confident like me and knows what she wants. She is a lot more out front and speaks her mind without overthinking, like I do.

SH: What is it like working with the rest of the All American cast? Do you have a favorite moment together from the set?

AD: I have loved every day on set. It's a lot of fun. We are all around the same age, so we can relate to each other in many ways. While waiting on set, we would play games, ask random questions and have a lot of fun together.

SH: Are you much of a football fan in real life?

AD: Before the show, I wasn't. When I started watching it, I started to learn more about it.

SH: If you had to pick one moment as the highlight of your career so far, what would that be?

AD: I will always remember my first role here in the United States on Mayans M.C. That phone call I received and watching myself on national TV for the first time was a dream come true.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

AD: This has been a great experience that has helped me grow as an actress, and I can't wait to see what the world has in store for me next!
