Fun Facts:
1. What's the one moment that made you obsessed with style?
"I really started to have fun with style in middle school. I've always been a tomboy, but around the age of 12-13, I started realizing that it was really fun to dress up, and it tapped into my creative side. I love creating looks inspired by certain decades, like the '80s and '90s, and I also love creating affordable looks inspired by celebrities. I feel like style and fashion just give me the opportunity to play a character, and that's really fun for me."– Annie Hawkins
2. Tell us about your style. Who or what inspires it?
"I would say my style is pretty eclectic. I like designs with more of an edge, but I also like romantic pieces if they aren't overdone. I get a lot of inspiration from celebrities. Some of my favorites are Hailey Bieber and Olivia Culpo. I also get a ton of inspiration from other Instagrammers. My favorites include, @officiallyquigley (Casey Goode), @zoelaz (Zoe Isabella Poetry) and @heymadinelson (Madison Nelson.)"– Annie Hawkins
3. Who takes your photos? How long is an average 'photoshoot'?
"My mom takes 90% of my photos. I've worked with some photographers, but it's hard to do that because you don't have any creative license to edit the photos after the photographer delivers them. So, having my mom take the shots gives me the opportunity to edit them to fit in my feed the way I want, which is important to me. She knew nothing about photography when we started, and I had only taken one semester of a high school photography class, so we've learned a lot together and, of course, are still learning. An average photoshoot usually takes under an hour, unless I'm shooting in bulk, which I sometimes do. I would shoot in bulk more if I was more organized, but I'm just now learning how to plan posts, and planning is a huge part of multiple outfits. If we're shooting several outfits, a shoot might take an hour and a half."– Annie Hawkins
4. What's your go-to outfit when you're in a rush?
"I'm pretty basic when I'm in a rush. I will wear leggings or jeans and a T-shirt with Adidas or Converse. My hair might be up in a messy bun and my makeup will be minimal."– Annie Hawkins
5. What's the best piece of advice you've been given, and from whom?
"I think the best advice I've gotten is that there are always going to be people who will look down on you or criticize you and your success. It doesn't matter what you do, you'll never be able to please everyone. So, to me, this means just be yourself and love yourself. My mom once said, 'Baby, you're a peach, but not everyone likes peaches.' "– Annie Hawkins
6. What's your favorite piece of clothing in your closet and why?
"My favorite piece is an oversized denim Wrangler jacket that was my Papa's. It's vintage and really big on me, but I love it because it was his. He died before I was born, so it's the only real connection I have to him."– Annie Hawkins
7. What's one thing you want everyone to know about you?
"I love to sing and play guitar, and I love dogs—all dogs."– Annie Hawkins
8. What have you learned about blogging that you would share with other bloggers or aspiring bloggers?
"The biggest lesson I've learned is to not give up when you feel like giving up. If you blog about something you're passionate about and love doing it, keep doing it even when it gets hard. It's a lot of work, and there will be times when you don't get many likes or comments on a post you feel like you worked really hard on. Or, your engagement will just drop for no reason and it feels like a punch to the gut. But, the most important thing is that you're doing something you love and enjoy. That passion will shine through and other people will engage and follow along as long as you are focusing on building a community and being genuine with the people who follow you. You are way more than likes and comments. As long as you're authentic, your audience will grow. It may take a lot of time, but it will happen. It's taken me four years to get to 13k and that is not a rapid pace, but I'm thankful for every single person who has followed me and supported me and I would feel the same way if I had 500 followers."– Annie Hawkins
9. What's your current skincare routine?
"My skin is super sensitive and very dry, so I have to be really careful about what I put on it. I'm also acne-prone, so I have to treat that, which is hard when my skin is so dry. At night, I do a double cleanse using an oil that I make out of Jojoba oil and Castor oil (about 60% Jojoba and 40% Castor). After that, I use Cerave deep moisture and then I use Differin gel on top. In the morning, I splash my face with water and follow with Pixi Glow Mist. Then I use Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen."– Annie Hawkins
10. What is your go-to makeup look?
"For my basic everyday look that I wear to school, I start with Smashbox Primer Oil (after sunscreen), then I use the L'Oreal Glowtion in the lightest shade on the high points of my face (cheekbones, nose, forehead), I then use concealer by Colourpop to hide any dark circles or blemishes, followed by Glossier Wowder. I use Too Faced Sweet Tea Bronzer to bronze up my face, and also add a little to my eyelids for some color. I add blush by Too Faced in First Love, then fill in my brows with Benefit's Precisely My Brow in shade 3. I finish up by curling my eyelashes and adding the Lash Slick mascara by Glossier. I usually add some gloss to my lips and I love the Colourpop brand. This all usually takes me less than 10 minutes, but I can do five minutes if I'm super pressed for time."– Annie Hawkins
