From Ariana Grande To Daisy Ridley, Our Fave Females Took Over The MTV Movie Awards
We were not disappointed in the slightest by what went down at the 25th anniversary of the MTV Movie Awards, especially because all of our fave females ruled the show and took home almost every single award that was presented. Let's relive all the girl power once more, shall we?
The first award of the night was for Best Female Performance and we were not at all surprised that Charlize Theron took home the award for her role in Mad Max: Fury Road. We actually cried during her acceptance speech, because she accepted the golden popcorn "on behalf of her own little Furiosa, [her] daughter."
We were stoked when Amy Poehler won Best Virtual Performance for her role of Joy in Inside Out. We're not saying we're psychic or anything, but we definitely called this.
Our queen Halsey SLAYED her performance of "Castle"! It was absolutely magical. BRB, buying a cape to wear every day for the rest of our lives.
We need take a minute to talk about how cute Daisy Ridley was when she won Breakthrough Performance. We knew she'd come through with a win, NBD. Also low key jealous that our OG bae, Zac Efron, presented her with the award.
Ariana Grande's performance of "Dangerous Woman" was giving us major old Hollywood glam vibes and we were living for it. She is actually a superhero, because there is no way any normal human being can sing the way Ari does.
Nothing beats seeing Melissa McCarthy crowd surf to the stage to accept her Comedic Genius award. Still can't believe it took 25 award shows for a female to finally win the award, but we're ecstatic that it did.
This wasn't announced on the live show, but we still want to give a shout out to our girl Jennifer Lawrence for taking home Best Hero and the ladies of Pitch Perfect 2 for taking home Best Ensemble Cast. Yep, girls run the world (and the MTV Movie Awards)!
We're still beaming over Daisy Ridley's huge win. She deserved to take home the golden popcorn statue and HERE are all the reasons why.
