Celebrated Poet Atticus Spills Details of His New Valentine’s Day Collab With Lime Crime

With three books on the New York Times Bestseller list and more than 1.6 million Instagram followers, it's no stretch to say that Atticus is one of today's leading poets—and today, Feb. 1, he's also adding his poetic, creative touch to a new collab with Lime Crime.

The new Lime Crime x Atticus Limited Edition Velvetines Lip Trio retails for $40 and comes just in time for Valentine's Day, including a collection of three best-selling Velvetines Liquid Lipsticks. They come in a true black BLACK VELVET, a deep true red FEELINS and a lilac-brown TEDDY BEAR, all offering rich, full coverage with a French vanilla infusion and shades reflecting the various sides of love, including moodier tones for when your relationship status is a bit complicated. With Atticus's latest book, LVOE: Poems, Epigrams & Aphorisms, it's clear he knows a thing or two about the subject, and we got the chance to chat with him all about the collaboration and why it's so close to his heart.

Sweety High: How exactly did your collaboration with Lime Crime come to be? Why did your poetry and the brand feel like a great fit?

Atticus: It's a funny story, actually! This year at Burning Man, I decided to dye my hair pink. The dye I used was Lime Crime's Unicorn pink hair dye. That was the first time I used the brand. A mutual friend later connected us, and we thought it would be really fun to create something together. Because of my own experience with the brand and since we share a similar audience, it felt like a natural fit.

SH: How did you settle on creating three Velvetines Liquid Lipsticks with Lime Crime? Can you tell us about the three shades?

Atticus: These are actually three of Lime Crime's best-selling shades. When picking shades, we didn't want to pick the traditional shades associated with Valentine's Day. We wanted it to be a little moodier and represent all the different emotions you could be feeling about love. There's one for every V-Day vibe. Cuffed or crushing, we have a shade for that. Swipe on full-coverage color for lips that say LOVESICK, no matter your relationship status.

Shade: FEELINS – a fiery red for when you're catching them…

Shade: TEDDY BEAR – a softer nude when you've got a cuddle buddy cuffed

Shade: BLACK VELVET – a true black for when you're thinking V-Day? More like Me Day.

SH: Do you have a favorite lipstick in the trio? Why?

Atticus: We decided to launch with a lip trio instead of individuals because our favorite changes with your mood, vibe or personal style each day. We wanted to keep things fun and dynamic!

SH: Is there a special reason this collab was just right for the Valentine's Day holiday?

Atticus: For a "love poet," Valentine's day is a sacred holiday. I always love planning fun releases around the day. And when I launched my new book LVOE., being all about love, we all knew we should do something special for the Day of Love! It just made sense.

SH: Is there anything else we should know about you and the collab?

Atticus: I hope people love this collection as much as we loved putting it together. It's been such a fun partnership with a lot of creativity. Our teams work really well together, and the Lime Crime group loves poetry and thinking outside the box, so it's been a blast!

And now that I've mentioned it; I can't stop thinking about what color I should dye my hair for my next Burning Man adventure. And maybe add some matching lipstick, haha!
