18-year-old Ava Della Pietra is the definition of a multihyphenate, combining her talents as an actress, stage performer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist to create a presence that's truly unique.
Ava started performing when she was just 4 and songwriting when she was only 5, discovering her passion early in life. That eventually led her to her various high-profile roles on the stage, including appearing in the original cast of Broadway's School of Rock. She taught herself to play piano, guitar, bass, violin and ukulele, and today is best known for writing songs that speak to the issues that young people face every day, pairing powerful songwriting with a finely honed voice, trained for the stage. "When my parents were deciding on a name for me, they turned to my then 5-year-old brother for advice. He wanted to name me after a very big number: googolplex, or 'Google' for short. My dad suggested 'Avogadra' (after Avogadro's number) instead. My mom vetoed that idea and elected a shortened version: Ava."

7. Her favorite scent in the world if the distinct smell of the ocean.
"I live close to the water, and the briny tang carried by the breeze creates a sense of tranquility. Many of my original songs have been inspired by walks on the beach."
