Avianna Mynhier on Playing Maxx in the New Series Blue Ridge
Avianna Mynhier is probably best known for playing Rachel Ward in AMC's hit series The Walking Dead, and this year, fans shouldn't miss out on her brand-new series, Blue Ridge.
The show, available on the Cowboy Way Channel, follows a sheriff and his deputies as they investigate a murder in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Making things even more complicated, the death revives a long feud between rival families. Avianna plays Maxx Covington, one of the officers racing the clock to save the case, and we got to chat with her about her history with acting and the new series in the interview below.
Sweety High: When did you discover your passion for acting? Was there any specific a-ha moment that made you realize it was the path for you?
Avianna Mynhier: I discovered my passion for acting through dance! Storytelling through movement is how it all started. Then, eventually, that translated to acting. It was a sort of long-term realization.

SH: What would you say was your first big break?
AM: My first big show was AMC's The Walking Dead, but I probably put on a mean sock puppet show or two growing up. 🙂

SH: Can you tell us a little bit about Blue Ridge? What's the series about, and where does your character, Maxx, fit into the equation?
AM: Blue Ridge is an action-crime drama set in a town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, following a new sheriff and his two deputies as they solve crimes. I play a smart, brave and compassionate deputy named Maxx Covington. She's still learning the ropes in many ways, but she's got a strong passion for serving the community.

SH: Would you say you're like Maxx in real life? In what ways are you similar, and in what ways are you very different?
AM: Oh, great question! I'd say we're both pretty brave, but Maxx is definitely more street-smart than I am!
SH: What's been your favorite moment from the set so far? Any extra memorable moments from the cast?
AM: It was such a blast to welcome all of these badass professional wrestlers and bodybuilders to set for Episode 3—people like James Storm and Mike O'Hearn! They're legends. Seeing them do wild stunts in the wrestling ring was incredible! I also loved going to the local arcade with the cast and crew on St Patrick's Day. So much bonding happens in those moments. You really start to feel like a team.
