Avicii and Jonas Brothers Tug at Our Heartstrings With New Albums
From tears of sorrow to tears of joy, this week's new music releases have us feeling some type of way.
We know it's been a while, but we figure this week's as good a time as any to check in with New Music Friday. I mean, what can we say? There are just too many new bops to count this week!
From Avicii to Jonas Brothers and more, we've nailed down our top five. Keep reading for our list:
1. 'Never Leave Me' by Avicii f./ Joe Joniak
Avicii (aka Tim Bergling) shocked the world with his tragic passing about a year ago—and the electronic music world hasn't been the same since. Thankfully, we get one more solid selection of tracks from the late musical sensation, with the release of his final album, Tim. Our favorite track is "Never Leave Me," an ode to an uplifting female love.
2. 'Every Single Time' by Jonas Brothers
The JoBros are back—initiating all sorts of joyous, nostalgic feelings. Coming off of recent nuptials for two members, and a longtime happy marriage for one, all three boys-turned-men are riding high right now, and their latest effort (their first since 2009) is evidence of where they are in life. Upbeat and carefree, yet still a clear indication they've reached adulthood, their Happiness Begins effort is by far their finest to date—and we think "Every Single Time" sums the vibe of the album up best.
3. 'Talk Talk' by Cannons
We're putting this next selection right in the middle because it breaks up the super poppy selections on this list. This slow, sultry melody by Cannons, combined with the vocals of lead singer Michelle Joy will melt you away into another world.
4. 'Wave' by Samantha LaPorta
When we think of summertime, we think of carefree, lazy days, splashing in the ocean, hanging out with friends and not worrying about a thing. Pop singer Samantha LaPorta takes every feeling associated with the sunniest season, and bottles it into one song, giving us quite the upbeat bop (and a lyric video to boot!).
5. 'Damsel' by Caroline
Brunette beauty Caroline wants to make one thing clear: She may be a damsel, but she's by no means in distress! The pop singer released a powerful anthem about the importance of being your own best friend and not depending on anyone but yourself. Wise words, girl.
