THESE Are the 8 Bad Habits You Must Kick in 2017

It's 2017 and you've probably already mapped out your New Year's resolutions, cleaned out your closet and mentally prepped yourself for a fresh new start.

Although you may feel you have all your bases covered in order to have the best year yet, there's one last thing you must do—nix those bad habits that tied you down in 2016.

For a bright and shiny future, scroll below and see which of these eight bad habits linger in your life and how to get rid of them once and for all. ????

1. Say No to Procrastination

Each year, you promise yourself that you will break your bad habit of procrastinating. And then, somehow, you once again find yourself waiting the night before a gargantuan test or homework assignment to get your studying in or work done. Not this year. If you want to truly excel at school, at home and in life, you must put an end to your dawdling ways. Break this bad practice by getting a little work done at a time (nothing major, we swear)! Set aside fifteen minutes a day to do your work, clean your room or accomplish whatever task that needs to get tackled, and you will surely see progress (and avoid stress).

2. Stop Pressing Snooze

Your mom is right on this one: The early bird does get the worm. Stop pressing the snooze button this year and see how much more you can get done before school or work simply by waking up 30 minutes to an hour earlier. Because you'll be waking up earlier, you'll be ready to hit the sack by a decent hour, giving you much-needed beauty sleep. A total win situation.

3. Avoid Having Your Phone Glued to You 24/7

We know it's hard, but would it really hurt ya to put your phone away an hour before bed and during passing periods at school? In case you're uncertain, the answer is absolutely not. Although we love technology just as much as the rest of you, it's nice to give ourselves a little break from scrolling through social feeds to interact with all the people around us in person. Who knows who you could meet or what you could encounter just by putting your phone down. The possibilities are endless. ????

4. Stop Saying No

How many times did you turn down activities or opportunities in 2016 because you were fearful? If you can count the number of times on your fingers, then it should be your goal this year to toss your bad habit of being a "no" girl. This is the year of "yes"! Say yes to new sports, new friends and new opportunities to learn and grow. Don't be afraid of things you haven't tried.

5. But at The Same Time… Don't Over-Schedule Yourself

Although it's great to load your plate with lots of extracurriculars, it's not so great to over-schedule yourself to the point of exhaustion. Find your balance, learn what you can handle and then roll with it!

6. No More Gossip

Nothing good ever comes from gossiping, so do yourself and others a favor this year by keeping your mouth closed when you hold rumors or information that doesn't pertain to you. It's really true that secrets don't make friends and friends don't make secrets, so only spread news if it's positive.

7. Refrain From Netflixing All Day

It's so easy to get sucked into an all-weekend-long Netflix binge session—we'll be the first to admit that—but, this year, instead of spending countless hours inside bundled up on your couch, get out and get moving! You've only got one life, so go make memories with friends and family, explore new areas and prepare for adventure. A lot can happen when you get out into the world.

8. Don't Give Up

If you're going to nix one habit this year, let it be this one. Failure is part of the adventure. Go test what you can do, don't be afraid to make mistakes and enjoy the process. If you keep trying you will succeed.
