Bring These Beauty Items With You the Next Time You’re On a Plane

If you've ever traveled on an airplane and found your skin was majorly irritated after landing, you're far from alone.

Being in recycled air for hours at a time can do a lot of harm to our skin, which is why it's so important to treat it right while we're in the air and take preventative actions! Not sure what to bring? Here are the beauty items you should pack the next time you're on a plane.

Hydrating Sheet Mask

A hydrating sheet mask is essential not only because you will look totally silly, but because it actually works! We're big fans of the I Mask ($9) from Image Skincare thanks to its cooling effect and use of hyaluronic acid, amino acids, aloe vera and antioxidant extracts. Skin tends to dry out majorly when up in the air, and this mask ensures it won't feel tight and dehydrated.

Lip Mask

A lip mask is absolutely necessary when you're up in the air. If you've ever been on a plane, we just know you've dealt with dry, chapped lips. That's why you need to have a lip mask with you—not just lip balm. Masks are thicker and meant to (typically) be worn while you sleep, and if we had to choose one, we'd go for The Dream Slip ($34) from Sara Happ. Formulated with hyaluronic acid and konjac root, the product works to hydrate and moisturize your lips on a skin deep level. Gone are the days of crusty lips!

Hydrating Moisturizer

If we could only choose one beauty item to bring with us on an airplane, it would have to be a hydrating moisturizer. You get the most bang for your buck with this product and will find your skin feels amazing. We like using the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream ($69) or even the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask ($49) in place of a moisturizer. You truly can't go wrong with either product! Plus, these can be used in your day-to-day life, too.

Under-Eye Patches

Under-eye patches are a must, especially if you're on a long flight. These babies will revitalize your under-eye area and leave them looking plump and awake. A good under-eye option we like for planes has to be the Peace Out Puffy Eye Patches ($25). Crafted with caffeine, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, your under-eye area will be de-puffed and brightened in just 15 minutes.

Hand Cream

Since air is recycled on planes, it tends to dry our skin out, and our hands are typically the first thing we start to notice feel extra dry. That's why hand cream is a total lifesaver. Instead of going for one with a yummy scent, find one with good, moisturizing ingredients that will work from the inside out. We prefer The Hand Cream ($20) from Nécessaire because it's fragrance-free and works to deeply moisturize thanks to a blend of niacinamide, marula oil and peptides.

Moisturizing Facial Spray

If you don't currently have a facial spray, we're about to change your life! They feel incredible to spritz on the skin and instantly give you a refresh. Whether we're on a plane or at home, our absolute favorite facial spray has to be Tower 28's SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray ($12). Since skin tends to get stressed out when traveling, this is the perfect solution, as it targets and fixes angry skin! Formulated with hypochlorous acid, this spray reduces redness, protects from bacteria and even soothes the skin. What's not to love?
