6 Clothing Items to Stay Cool and Covered-Up This Summer
We can't lie—we prefer staying covered up all year long. But once summer rolls around, it becomes an issue because we live in a hot and humid city. Thankfully, we've perfected our method of finding lightweight and comfortable clothing to combat the sweltering heat.
If you're like us, we're happy to share some of our staple items for keeping cool in the heat. Keep scrolling to see the basics you need this summer and beyond!
H&M T-Shirt Dress: $17
We don't typically reach for dresses during the year, but the hot weather always makes us want to throw something easy on. This T-shirt dress from H&M is both lightweight and moveable, which is great for summer, and because it's a midi dress, we don't have to worry about feeling exposed. Plus, basic dressses like these are the most fun to style—you can easily change the vibe with your accessories.

Tillys RSQ Low Rise Ditsy Midi Skirt: $32.99
Between this skirt from Tillys and the H&M dress, we're so glad that midi and maxi-length items are stylish again. They're a modest way to be cute and comfortable during the summer, but the coverage also means they're equally wearable during the fall and winter.
This skirt is extremely versatile. For an edgy look, pair it with a 2000s-inspired babydoll tank and Doc Martens, or for a beachy vibe, a white tank and sandals.

Aerie High Waisted Pool-to-Party Pant: $54.95
Everyone knows Aerie is one of the best for breezy clothing, so we weren't surprised to see these linen pants in their catalog. These bottoms are named "pool-to-party," which means they're light enough to be a cover-up for your swimwear and will keep you from overheating. You also basically get two pairs of pants in one because you can convert the wide-leg bottoms into joggers.

There's nothing we love more than a linen button-up during the summer. They're so classy and have the superpower of elevating any outfit.
But this shirt from Aritzia might be the most magical linen top we've seen. And each top goes through a unique dyeing process, so the shirt you purchase will be one-of-a-kind.
