The Best Date Ideas for Fall 2023

While there are great date ideas to be done any time of the year, there's just something about fall that lends itself to some extra amazing dates—it is the beginning of cuffing season, after all!

But whether you're just starting to see someone new or simply searching for fun ideas to shake things up with your long-time "boo," having a plan in mind can make all the difference. Thankfully, we're here to make said planning a whole lot easier for you by providing a list of the best ideas for fall 2023. Let's start off with:

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Okay, you knew this one was coming. While it may be a common fall date idea, tha's for a good reason. A pumpkin patch is the perfect outdoor day date, especially during early fall when the weather is still in that sweet spot where you aren't entirely freezing every time you go outdoors. If you want to shake up this classic date, though, we'd suggest having a competition with your date to see who can pick both the best pumpkin and the ugliest (bonus points if you're able to actually turn it into something later by carving them).

Have a Spooky Painting Sesh

"Ghost painting" has been trending on TikTok lately, and we think it makes for the perfect fall date for 2023. Essentially, all you need to do is pick up some basic painting materials, then head to your nearest Goodwill or other store where you'll find old, cheap prints that you won't mind painting over. Try to find ones with figures if possible, as the point of ghost painting is to turn those figures into, well, ghosts (cute ones, don't worry). Let your creativity take over and see who can find the best print to paint over as well as who can whip up a ghost painting worthy of hanging in any haunted house.

Visit a Haunted House

Another classic fall date idea perfect for Halloween time, this one is beloved by those who aren't afraid of screaming in front of their date. The reason we think it's worth including on this list is that it's great for those who are newly dating as well as those who have been together for years, especially since a little fear (fake as the scares may be) can actually bring the two of you a lot closer.

Have a Blockbuster Movie Marathon

Sure, you could cozy up on the couch and put on all the scary movies your heart desires, but why not switch it up by marathoning all of 2023's top releases so far instead? The summer was packed with blockbuster releases like Barbie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Oppenheimer and a whole host of others, and by fall, you'll be able to catch some of these names either still at the theater or from streaming services you can watch at home. Whether you've seen the movies already or not, grabbing your favorite snacks and your date for a solid marathon is a great way to stay warm indoors when the cooler temperatures begin.

Cook a Thanksgiving (or Friendsgiving) Dish Together

Cooking can be a form of bonding in so many ways, no matter what dish it is you're whipping up. Embrace the warmth of the kitchen and get your Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving cooking duties out of the way at the same time by turning it into a date with your partner. You can each grab the ingredients for a dish you're going to make, or you can cook one dish together with a bit of teamwork. Either way, having fun with it is the key to making this one a memorable date.
