The Best Rom-Com Novels to Rekindle Your Love of Reading

When we were in school, being forced reading made us despise books. Why would we want to spend time reading outside class when we already had to read boring books for our dreaded homework assignments?

Well, we've gotten a lot older, and while we've replaced class time with work days, we've also wanted to spend more time reading—and this time, we did it on our own terms. Within the past three years, we've gone from never reading books to reading up to five in a month, all thanks to romance novels.

You can learn to love reading again too! Below, we've laid out our five favorite novels we've read over the past couple of years we have to praise for turning us back into the bookworms we always were.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

If you love fanfiction, read The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. This rom-com sees two academics Olive, inspired by Rey from Star Wars, and Adam, modeled after Kylo Ren and named after—you guessed it—Adam Driver, who pretend to be in a relationship to appease Olive's bestie and please Adam's boss. Of course, heated emotions rise, and their feelings aren't as fake as they believe…

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Red, White & Royal Blue is pretty much the most popular LGBT romance right now, and for good reason. This hilarious enemies-to-lovers novel is the tale of two (almost) world leaders, Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the United States president, and Prince Henry of the United Kingdom. The two rivals get into an altercation before eventually reconciling and falling in love in a secret romance. In August, an adaption of the book will release on Amazon Prime—that goes to show how great this story is.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Sorry, not sorry, but we love enemies-to-lovers and fake dating novels, as you can tell, and The Unhoneymooners combines them into one magnificent story.

After food poisoning strikes her sister's wedding party, Olive Torres takes on the honeymoon, except with the unfortunate companionship of her new brother-in-law and mortal enemy, Ethan Thomas. After seeing her boss in Hawaii, Olive and Ethan must pretend to be married, but who knows what emotions will arise?
