5 Supplies You Need to Stay Organized This School Year

To make the most of your school year, you should begin the year on a high note—that means having the basic resources you need to stay organized at the start of the year. Otherwise, you might get behind quickly, and you do not want that.

From monthly planners to pencil cases, here are five essential items (with adorable designs) you need to stay on top of your game this school year.

U Brands Expanding File Folder: $10.99

It's always easiest to store all your work in one place, and that always works better if you keep it organized. One simple way to keep everything together—and to avoid forgetting a folder or homework at home—is to use a file folder. We've always separated our work by class and avoided keeping it full by removing papers once we no longer need it.

This vibrant, cute folder is a great option because it has three with five slots. You can have up to 15 spaces with this one. Get creative—each class could have two folders!

Sailor Moon Sailor Scout Sticky Tabs: $12.90

Sometimes, we'll take notes in class, but when we go back to look at them later, it takes way too long to find the page we're looking for. We've started putting sticky tabs with keywords to make it easier to locate our information. Back when we were in school, we had the plain sticky tabs, but Hot Topic has started selling school supplies, and they have these chic Sailor Moon markers.

H&M Pencil Case: $12.99

If you don't have a pouch, you'll probably lose your pencils and pens left and right. Whenever we're shopping for back-to-school supplies, a pencil case is always at the top of our list, and owning a stylish one is the icing on the cake. It's important to have a pouch so you're never left with just one or two pencils, too—who knows if you'll run out of lead or it will break. You never want to depend on others to let you borrow theirs (they might not have one or want to share), especially during an important exam.

Stackable Desktop Organizer Set: $26

You should stay organized at school, but it's just as important to keep things tidy at home. We like to keep things straight by using stackable storage, decreasing the amount of space taken up. This Organizer Set from Urban Outfitters is useful because it has multiple sizes. You can keep miscellaneous items in here, like clips and tape, as the images prove.

Happy Planner Monthly Planner: $34.99

And the most critical thing every student needs is a monthly planner so you know exactly what you need to do and when. More than likely, your school will provide an agenda, but it can be more fun to use one you find aesthetically pleasing. This option from Happy Planner has motivational messages to encourage you to keep up the good work, which we all need during the school year.
