Every Vegan Needs to Eat at These 12 Restaurants
Vegan restaurants have been popping up more and more over the years, and nothing could make me happier.
Throughout my six plus years of veganism, I've been to plenty of vegan/vegetarian restaurants. Some I liked, some I didn't and some I just don't even want to talk about.
There are 12 restaurants that I've grown very fond of over the years, which I thought I'd share with all of my fellow vegans.
If you're looking for a new place to eat (and you just so happen, hit up one of the amazing spots below:
True Food Kitchen
True Food Kitchen is a seasonal restaurant with a variety of healthy options on their menu. Not everything here is vegan, but they do have some incredible vegan options. I'm a big fan of their Shiitake Lettuce Cups (I'd eat them every day, if I could) and their staple T.L.T. sandwich.
The Spot
The Spot is the oldest operating vegetarian restaurant in Los Angeles, and for good reason. There are a ton of savory options on their menu, but to be honest, I haven't really tried them. The reason I highly recommend checking out The Spot is for their Savory Garden Burrito. They top it with this sauce that's literally magical. You really have to try it for yourself to know what I'm talking about.
Doomie's Home Cookin'
Doomie's has a whole bunch of fatty comfort foods on their menu that can turn any bad day around. Everything on the menu is delicious. I would know, I've tried each item at least once. I'm a big fan of their Buffalo Fries and their Philly Cheesesteak. Make sure to bring your appetite when you visit!
Mesa Verde
I've only visited Mesa Verde once, but it was quite the experience. It's definitely more high-end than most vegan restaurants, so it's the perfect place to treat yourself. I opted for their Pulled Smoked Mushroom. When I got it, I wasn't quite sure what I was eating, but it was so freaking good. Definitely don't be intimidated by its unique menu.
Loving Hut
Boasting over 200 locations in 35 countries, Loving Hut is the largest international family of vegan restaurants, so you're almost guaranteed to find one near you. Each menu at their various locations is different, so you'll never run out of new things to try.
Cruzer Pizza
I've never seen a vegan restaurant with more pizza and pasta options than Cruzer Pizza. It's heaven. I adore their Vegan Meat Spaghetti and Vegan BBQ Chicken Pizza to no end. They even have some great starters, like their Cheese Bread Sticks. It's a carb overload in the best way possible.
Vegan Glory
Vegan Glory is a Thai vegan and vegetarian restaurant where you'll really get the most bang for your buck. Their Spring Rolls are everything. I always get them every time I go. And I'm a big fan of their Spicy Fried Rice. It's to die for.
Sage Vegan Bistro
Sage offers organic, sustainable, plant-based food that all will find delectable. I haven't tried everything on the menu, but I've yet to be disappointed by the handful of items I've eaten. Out of all of them, my favorite has to be their Jackfruit Nachos, simply because the ratio of chips to toppings is perfect. No chip is left untouched by the jackfruit, black beans or cashew cheese.
Café Gratitude
With Café Gratitude, you go for the food, but stay for the atmosphere. Each time I've visited one of their locations, I've always left feeling good about myself. It sounds weird, but you'll understand when you visit. Plus, their menu items have the best names in the business. Eclectic, Bountiful, Dazzling, Magical—how could you not want to gobble these all down? I suggest starting with Magical, because it's, well, magical.
Gracias Madre
Gracias Madre serves up some mouthwatering takes on Mexican food. Their Black Bean Burger is by far my favorite thing on their menu. It's just wow, it's that good. All of their bowls are also amazing and incredibly filling.
Ramen Hood
Vegan ramen wasn't always the easiest thing to find, but that's no longer the case thanks to Ramen Hood. Their options are pretty straightforward, so it's perfect for all of you who have a tough time making decisions (me!). Their Spicy Ramen isn't for the faint of heart, but it's my go-to. I even top it off with a vegan egg, because I'm classy like that.
Veggie Grill
Of course, I couldn't forget good ol' Veggie Grill. I eat there at least two times a week and I always, always get their Buffalo Wings. They're the best in the business. I just love Veggie Grill with all my heart.
While I love being vegan, THESE are the three non-vegan foods I miss on the regular.
