All of the Biggest Astrological Events of 2022, According to a Vedic Astrologer
If you're curious about what 2022 will bring, you may find yourself turning to astrology—but did you know that western astrology isn't the only way to analyze your stars?
Vedic astrology is a form of astrology from India that uses the sidereal zodiac, meaning the planet's positions are calculated based on where they're observed in the sky, as opposed to the tropical zodiac. Vedic astrologer Donna has been practicing for more than 10 years and is also a consultant for Nebula: Horoscope & Astrology, a global multifunctional platform for astrology lovers created to inspire people to find their way to happiness. She dug deep to reveal all of the biggest astrological events of 2022, according to Vedic astrology. Keep reading to learn more:
Predictions for 2022
Donna: As 2021 is drawing to a close, we are all having one thing on our mind: What will 2022 be like? Will the new year bring surprises, stability or disappointments? I am as excited as you are, so why don't we analyze the positions and movements of the stars and planets to gauge our fate? Remarkably, the next year will bring many big changes, especially in the first half, because many of the slow-moving planets will be changing signs, which translates to changing trends in our lives.
First, let's find out what is the difference between Vedic and Western astrology. While Western Astrology follows the tropical coordinates to map the positions of the planets in the sky, Vedic follows the sidereal coordinates. This calculation is consistent with the astronomical position of the heavenly bodies since it takes into account the precession of the equinoxes, which means that the zodiac signs shift a little bit every year. Over thousands of years, this difference becomes quite noticeable.
Also, Vedic astrology gives much importance to the moon sign along with the sun sign of a person, even though the moon is much smaller than the sun, owing to the shorter distance the sun and the moon appear to be of similar size when viewed from the Earth. The sun is thought to represent a person's soul, while the moon their mind.

The Start of 2022
Donna: The year is expected to start on a stable note, as none of the planets are in a particularly troublesome position. Still, there will be a sense of restriction as all the planets will remain hemmed between Rahu and Ketu, forming the Kal Sarpa Dosha. Kal Sarpa Dosha literally translates to "the great affliction of the snake," but it is not as scary as it sounds.
Rahu and Ketu are the north and south nodes of the moon, respectively. These two are not real planets, but rather shadow planets or positions in the sky where the moon's orbit meets the Earth's orbit. The Rahu-Ketu axis thus divides the birth chart of anyone into two equal halves, or 180° on each side. Usually, the planets are scattered on either side of this axis, but sometimes all of them happen to be on one side. This locking position of all the celestial bodies on one side of the Rahu-Ketu axis is called Kal Sarpa Dosha. It signifies restrictions, rules and a temporary lack of opportunities. As the year progresses, the moon will move to the other side of the Rahu-Ketu axis, bringing an end to the Kal Sarpa Dosha, and opening up opportunities for everyone to grow.
Exaltation of Mars
Donna: On Feb 26, Mars will move into Capricorn, its sign of exaltation. Mars represents energy, aggression, free will and proactiveness. Exaltation of Mars will enable people to take charge of their lives and begin new work and journeys. This also represents a boom in the lagging sectors of the economy. Mars will remain exalted up to April 6, helping with positive energies.
People with an Aries sun sign or Mars in ascendant position will reap maximum benefits out of this time. Those with a Scorpio sun sign can also expect very good gains and opportunities.
Debilitation of Mercury
Donna: On March 24, Mercury enters the sign of Pisces, its sign of debilitation. Mercury is the significator of intellect and communication. Fall of Mercury usually results in miscommunication between people and malfunctioning electronic devices. On a global level, leaders riding high on the powers of an exalted Mars may make wrong decisions. Afflicted Mercury also means inflated ego clouding the intellects of people. Thankfully, this phase will last only up to April 7, after which Mercury will move into the sign of Aries, restoring balance.
Those with Virgo and Gemini sun signs need to exercise extra caution during this time period. Refrain from making hasty decisions. Try not to express anger through bitter words as it can ruin relationships.

Transit of Rahu and Ketu
Donna: On April 12, Rahu and Ketu will change signs after their 1.5-year-long stay in their individual signs of exaltation. Rahu will move into Aries and Ketu into Libra. This movement can cause some temporary disappointments for people who were enjoying a lucky spree in the past 1.5 years. On a global level, governments will be prone to making sudden decisions. Exercising caution will help to tide over this spell.
Those with Sagittarius or Taurus as their sun sign, moon sign or ascendant will feel a sense of relief due to this transit. On the other hand, people with Aries or Libra sun sign need to be mindful of changes. Avoiding drastic decisions will help.
Transit of Jupiter Into Its Own Sign
Donna: On April 13, Jupiter will leave the sign of Aquarius to enter its own sign of Pisces. Jupiter is powerful in Pisces and being a benefic planet, it will open up plenty of opportunities on a global and personal level. A noted increase in happiness and general wisdom can be witnessed post this event.
Since Jupiter is a benefic planet, this is a good event for one and all. Those with Jupiter as their ascendant lord, and/or with Pisces sun sign can expect to enjoy special times and unlocking of opportunities.
Exaltation of Sun
Donna: On April 14, the sun will enter its sign of exaltation Aries where it will stay up to May 14. The combined power of sun and Jupiter will help many ailing sectors to recover. Those who have felt stuck in the last two years will get opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. It is an excellent time for new beginnings.
This is an extremely opportune time for Leo and Cancer people. Both personal and professional lives will flourish.

Exaltation of Venus
Donna: On April 27, Venus will enter the sign of Pisces, its sign of exaltation, and stay there up to May 22. There it will join Jupiter. Venus and Jupiter are the greatest teachers as per Vedic astrology. This period will thus signify new wisdom, aesthetics, kindness and overall growth. On a personal level, you can expect relationships as well as creative projects to flourish.
Librans and Taureans can expect pleasant surprises and opportunities.
Transit of Saturn
Donna: On April 29, Saturn will transit into the sign of Aquarius. This is touted as the most-awaited event of 2022. A big shift in global politics can be witnessed. Improvement of public health and well-being can be expected. The general air of gloom will clear up and this will signify the beginning of a new period of time replete with new hopes.
This will be the harbinger of good news for Aquarians in particular. Those with Capricorn as their sun sign or moon sign will also enjoy good times.
First Solar Eclipse
Donna: On April 30, a partial solar eclipse will take place in the sign of Aries. Guarding against excessive anger will be necessary at this juncture. Beginning new things during the eclipse is not considered to be auspicious, so all new projects should be postponed. However, this eclipse can be considered as the starting of a new cycle of time. Old problems will be resolved but new challenges will surface.
People with Aries sun sign or ascendant need to be doubly careful. Sudden disappointments or roadblocks can cause delays.

First Lunar Eclipse
Donna: On May 16, there will be a total lunar eclipse taking place in the sign of Scorpio. Note that the moon is already debilitated in the sign of Scorpio and this eclipse will thus put excessive pressure on the mind. There will be a decrease in hope and one must guard against diseases of the mind. It is best to lie low and not act on sudden urges during this time.
Those with Scorpio as their moon sign will have to be particularly careful so as to reduce stress levels. Scorpio sun sign people, too, need to watch out for mood swings or unnecessary spells of anger.
Second Transit of Saturn
Donna: On July 12, Saturn will move back into Capricorn to stay there up to the end of the year. This movement can cause a slowdown in business and professional areas. On a personal level, delays and roadblocks can be unnerving. Utilizing this time for planning and retrospection will help in overall growth.
Capricorn people will get a chance to finish their projects that got stuck and/or clear obstacles from new paths.
Exaltation of Mercury
Donna: On Aug. 21, Mercury enters Virgo, its exalted position where it obtains the greatest power. It will stay there for over a month, up to Oct. 25. This will amplify the intellect and there will be good growth in communication, technologies and similar areas. It is also a great time for countries to settle their disputes and to begin a phase of mutual cooperation and understanding.
Virgo sun sign people can expect to make the best of this situation. Those with a Gemini sun sign, too, will be blessed with good opportunities in all areas of life.

Fall of Venus
Donna: On Sep. 24, Venus enters Virgo, where it is debilitated and will stay there up to Oct.17. Note that this period also overlaps with exaltation of Mercury and the two planets will sit in conjunction in the practical sign of Virgo. It signifies the importance of mind over heart. Relationships and creativity will take a backseat making room for analytical and scientific growth.
Librans may feel disconnected with life. Taureans, too, many feel tired and gloomy for a while.
Fall of Sun
Donna: On Oct. 17, the sun enters Libra, its sign of debilitation, and stays there up to Nov. 16. Those in powerful positions may suffer in this time period, but it is also an opportunity for the causes of common people to be heard and upheld. Loss of confidence can prevent people from taking up new challenges.
Leo people in particular need to stay on guard during this time.
Second Solar Eclipse
Donna: On Oct. 25, there will be a partial solar eclipse. This solar eclipse will happen at a time when the sun is debilitated in the sign of Libra. It is a time to pause and reflect on the journey you have been through in the past few months. Do not begin travels, projects or relationships. Instead, focus on consolidating what you have to get the best results.
People with Libra sun sign or Libra ascendant need to be strong from within. Minor disappointments might come. Accepting them and moving on bravely will help.
Second Lunar Eclipse
Donna: On Nov. 8, there will be a total lunar eclipse. It will act like a halt for you to assess how well you are investing and channelizing your energies. You will feel assured about your achievements and at the same time be ready to welcome changes and opportunities. Globally, a new system is likely to be in place that portends to better times ahead.
Cancer ascendant people may feel a little low in energy. Meditation will help to pass this phase in peace.

Bottom Line
Donna: 2022 will be refreshing as it will set free locked-up energy, enabling health, happiness and wealth to come into your life. Hard work and resilience will find success while relationships will find stability. In some phases, there will be slowdowns and breaks in old ties, but in retrospect, these changes are likely to be rewarding. Keeping a positive outlook and proactive mindset will help to reap the best out of the coming year.
