Birthdate Co.’s New Birthstone Ring Is THE Prettiest Celebration of Your Birth Month

I've been a fan of Birthdate Co. from the very beginning.

Back in 2019, I was first introduced to the brand via their astrology-inspired Birthdate Candles—with one for every day of the year—before falling in love with their personalized, star chart-filled Birthdate Book in 2020. Earlier this year, I also adored their Survive Mercury Retrograde Candle. The personalized astrology gift brand truly has a little bit of everything, including newly introduced jewelry pieces. Today, June 27, they launched a silver version of their beloved Birthstone Pendant, as well as their brand new  The Birthstone Ring. I was smitten with the ring at first sight, and the team behind the brand was kind enough to send me my own ring ahead of the launch to review. Keep scrolling for everything you need to know.

The Birthstone Ring

Birthdate Co. is best known for its spiritual wellness and astrology products, and since launching their first-ever jewelry piece, the Birthdate Pendant, last November, they've been a huge hit. I'm not a big necklace-wearer, but I do love great rings, so my interest was immediately piqued when I heard they were adding a ring to the lineup.

The Birthstone Ring is made with sterling silver, plated with 14-karat gold and hand-set with 15 gemstones—three marquise birthstones, plus a dozen sparkly white accent stones. While the birthstones respectively represent the wearer's past, present and future, the triangle and square white stones symbolize the twinkling stars of the night sky.

Of course, each month gets its own look. All stones are precision-cut cubic zirconia, with the stones emulating garnet for January, amethyst for February, aquamarine for March, white topaz for April, emerald for May, alexandrite for June, ruby for July, peridot for August, sapphire for September, pink tourmaline for October, citrine for November and blue topaz for December. Each ring also includes an insert that explains both the history of the birthstone and what it represents.

The rings are currently available in sizes 4 to 10, with each ring retailing for $125.

The Experience

When my ring arrived, I was delighted with the way it looked. The gold of the ring had a soft glow, with just the right amount of shine, and the stones set within it were stunning.

Traditionally, I think of turquoise as the December birthstone, but for this ring, they went with blue topaz, which symbolizes everything from loyalty and true love to clarity, communication and trust. I think this was a good choice, as the more sky-blue color of turquoise wouldn't be half as striking, and I loved the slightly greenish hue to the blue stones, and how they were complemented by the white.

There's also a slightly organic feel to the metal, which is smooth and shiny, but without a perfectly regular and symmetrical shape that can sometimes make a piece feel impersonal. The unique position of the stones is more playful and raw, making this ring a lot more interesting than other gemstone rings in my collection. It also fits true to size and feels pretty unobtrusive on my finger.

If I have a single nitpicky complaint, it's that, for proper long-term care, the brand recommends taking the ring off for bathing, exercise and swimming. I definitely prefer waterproof pieces—mainly because, once I take a ring off, I'll forget to ever put it back on—but that's a small price to pay for a ring as lovely as this one.
