10 Things Everyone Carries in Their Purse During Fashion Week

Ever wonder how your fave style bloggers and influencers look perfect and effortless in every Instagram photo at New York Fashion Week?

Take it from someone who has been attending fashion week for 14 seasons—that's seven years—fashion week is hectic, tiring, exciting and… not quite as glamorous as it appears in your Insta feed.

What I've found, is the key to mastering fashion week lies inside your handbag. Any top blogger will tell you that their secret weapon is their super chic carry all, and the lifesaving things inside it. And even if you're not at fashion week, this me-approved master purse checklist will save you from any style emergency you might encounter in the future.

1. Portable Phone Charger

How else are you going to document the whole day on Instagram, Instagram Stories, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook? Instead of stressing out over how you'll charge your phone, always make sure you have your portable battery charged and ready to go. I personally use the Anker PowerCore, but Qualcomm and Auckey are good options, too.

2. Cute Flats

The secret to wearing heels all day is actually not wearing them all day. Give your feet a break by always having a pair of cute flats, like these Lucky slip-on, lace-up ballet flats, so you can swap when you have to walk a long distance or wait for a ride.

These shoes are sold out everywhere.. but no worries, I found an identical pair in both black and this color at @pixiemarket for a fraction of the price.. Double tap to shop them via @liketoknow.it http://liketk.it/2p3hK #liketkit

3. Headphones

These seem like a no-brainer, but I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten my headphones and either had to buy an overpriced pair or go through the day in silence. Headphones are perfect for relaxing in-between fashion shows or taking a hands-free call on the go. These by Sudio Sweden ear buds are my current fave.

4. Cord Organizer

Any influencer will tell you that tech cords can be the bane of our existence. Literally, there are cords everywhere, all the time! I invested in a cord organizer by This Is Ground, and haven't looked back since. It's the ideal way to tote around all of your chargers for your gadgets. Side note: can everyone just agree on one universal charger and call it a day? #ThankYouVeryMuch

5. Facial Mist

Say buh-bye to cakey, dry makeup for good. Keep your makeup looking Instagram-worthy all day long with face mist. These are great for hydrating your skin and giving you that dewy finish–and they're a nice little pick-me-up, too! I adore Mario Badescu's rose water, Caudalie's Beauty Elixir, and Herbivore's rose mist.

????+????+????= rose hibiscus coconut water face mist. rose hibiscus mist is not your average rose water spray, it's a tropical take on regular rose water with hibiscus extract and coconut water for extra hydration and a light dose of 100% natural tropical scent, plus roses.????????@ohmyskin

6. Mini Makeup Emergency Kit

While it might be tempting to pack your entire makeup bag, it's not very practical. So, whittle your on-the-go makeup to the essentials, which should consist of four products max. For me, I like to have: concealer by Nars, matte lip color by ColourPop, highlighter by Jouer, and lip / cheek tint by Stila.

7. Roll-on Perfume

Roll-on perfumes are ideal for on-the-go, and you don't have to worry about them taking up a bunch of space or leaking in your bag. I've recently started making my own DIY roller perfume at home, but my signature store-bought roll-on fragrances are Elizabeth and James Nirvana and by Rosie Jane.

8. Band-Aids

I think we can all agree that  tiniest of blisters can literally ruin an entire day. This is definitely the case at fashion week, when you are out all day from dawn to dark. I never leave the house without a Band-Aid… or 10 if I'm wearing new shoes!

9. Breath Mints

Chewing gum is so '00s. It's not cute or professional to be chomping on gum all day, which is why I always like to have organic, chemical-free breath mints by VerMints on hand before I head into a show.

10. Texturing Spray

Keep your hair looking full and bouncy all day long with texturizing spray! I am addicted to these products because they take your hair from drab to fab with just a little spritz. Currently, I'm lusting over Ouai's soft texturizing spray, and I've been a fan of Oribe's for years.
