A Definitive Ranking of Every brekki Ready-to-Eat Oats Flavor

We first fell in love with brekki and their delicious, effortless, ready-to-eat oats earlier this year when they were featured in our January 2024 foodie roundup.

brekki is like overnight oats, minus the annoying prep, combining the benefits of chia seeds, flax seeds, gluten-free buckwheat and almonds for a wholesome cup of convenient, tasty nutrition. They're free of all gluten, dairy and GMOs, coming in eight awesome flavors so there's something for every type of breakfast-lover. The brand was kind enough to send us one of each flavor for a taste test, and we ranked them all in the list below.

10. Dark Chocolate

We want to start this ranking off by saying that even our least favorite offering from the brand is still quite deliicous. brekki's Dark Chocolate is rich and slightly bitter thanks to the inclusion of dark chocolate, with just a hint of sweetness. It's just not our favorite for kicking off the mornings, as we'd prefer something sweeter or featuring even more chocolatey goodness.

9. Choco Coconut

Choco Coconut is a newer flavor in the brekki lineup, and while we preferred it to the classic Dark Chocolate, it's still lower on our list than most flavors. We did find this one a bit sweeter, adding an almost pudding-like taste to the oats, but since we're not big coconut lovers, this one was never going to be a top-tier flavor for us.

8. Vanilla Cinnamon

Vanilla Cinnamon is very yummy, if just a tad milder than we were anticipating. It's got a bit of cinnamon spice, balanced by vanilla smoothness, but we didn't find it particularly exciting.

7. Cold Brew Coffee

It should come as no surprise that the Cold Brew Coffee flavor tastes just like coffee, with all of the bitterness and tartness that entails. As much as we loved it, we also found that flavor a bit intense for the full cup of oats (especially because we were already drinking coffee with it).

6. The Original

brekki's The Original flavor may seem basic, but it tastes anything but. It has a honey-like sweetness thanks to coconut nectar, putting the full focus on the smooth, creamy texture and the crunch of almonds and chia seeds. It's wonderfully neutral, and though we haven't tried this ourselves, would probably be great for adding your own toppings and fillings if you were so inclined.

5. Strawberries

Oats and fruit are a match made in heaven, and that's clear with brekki's Strawberries flavor. There's strawberry jam all along the bottom of the cup, so you can mix it throughout or grab a bit with every spoonful, adding a layer of fresh, vibrant and sweet but not tart strawberry flavor on top of the delicious oats.

4. Bananas & Maple Brown Sugar

Bananas & Maple Brown Sugar might be the most complex of the brekki flavors. There's plenty of brown sugar sweetness, plus the earthy, sweet and almost tangy flavor of a very ripe banana, making it taste extra wholesome and satisfying. We also thought we felt a bit more full after eating this one.

3. Lemon

We weren't sure exactly what to expect with the addition of a Lemon flavor to the brekki lineup, but we were hooked from the first bite. The flavor is similar to lemon curd, one of our all-time favorites, making this a tart and vibrant break from others, as it offers something completely new.

2. Blueberries

As much as we loved the Strawberries flavor, we enjoy the Blueberries variety of brekki even more. It's also got a layer of blueberry jam at the bottom, adding the sweet-yet-tart flavor throughout. It's perfectly fruity and we just can't get enough.

1. Apples & Cinnamon

Is it obvious that we love the fruity Brekki flavors the best? Apples & Cinnamon is a classic oatmeal flavor that's even better here, with apple-cinnamon filling at the bottom for perfectly portioned spoonfuls each time. It has tiny chunks of sweet and crisp apple with just the right amount of cinnamon spice to make it our favorite brekki flavor of all.
