Everything You Wanted to Know About ‘Shoot Me Dead’ Artist Cameron Whitcomb

Time and time again, 21-year-old country singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb has proved he's more than just one of the best voices in the business.

The Canadian artist left home at 17, working on a pipeline before discovering his singing talents when he was 19. He caught the attention of an American Idol exec and wound up making it on the show in 2022, and his since continued to release music that showcases both his unmatched vocals and powerfully resonant sense of storytelling. From "The Devil I've Seen" to "Can't Get Over You" and "Shoot Me Dead," his music plumbs his own personal experiences, from his struggles with addiction to his musical journey, and on May 17, he made his debut with Atlantic Records with the new single "Rocking Chair." Even before its release, the teasers had racked up more than 40 million views, and the full song is even more compelling as he sings of not believing in a higher power himself, all the while hoping there's an afterlife so that some piece of the people he's loved and lost are still around.
