9 Things to Add to Your Cancer Zodiac Season Bucket List

The official start of summer also marks the beginning of the  Cancer zodiac season, and this truly is the time to take things slow.

Cancer season lasts from about June 21 to July 22, and with this period comes the sign's emotional, intuitive and sometimes moody energy. According to astrology, this time is less active than most—and that's a good thing. Want to make the most of the season of Cancer? Below, we've shared nine things to add to your Cancer season bucket list.

1. Share the Love

Cancer is known as the parent of the zodiac for a good reason, so over the next few weeks, lean into this natural nurturing energy. You don't want to baby the people you care about, but you can go out of your way to show them you care. Maybe that means treating your loved ones to lunch or splitting a decadent dessert with them. You may want to offer some guidance to a friend who needs relationship advice or lend an open ear to someone who needs a pep talk. Letting people know you love them can come in many forms, so keep an eye out for those opportunities to be kind.

2. Get Metaphysical

Water signs are known for their finely honed intuition, and with Cancer, it can get to the point where they seem nearly psychic. We're not saying you're suddenly going to be able to start reading people's minds this season, but you should still use this time to tap into that intuition and awareness by trying out metaphysical practices, whether that's reading your daily horoscope or getting into tarot reading. Even if it's all for a bit of fun, looking at your life through a different lens can lead you to insights you might not have stumbled across otherwise.

3. Track the Moon

To get ever deeper into your astrological readings, Cancer season is the perfect time to start tracking the phases of the moon, which also happens to be the sign's ruling "planet." Learning about the energies that come with the waxing and waning of the moon can also bring surprising knowledge and teach you more about how you behave during each phase. For example, the full moon on July 3 is in Capricorn, bringing feelings that you want to be productive and generate something for the greater good, while the new moon in Cancer on July 17 will bring extra introspection and a desire to be safe and feel at home.

4. Start a Journal

While you're noting the moon's movement and its effects, you might as well start a general journal. Emotions will be running high during this time, so instead of allowing them to get the best of you, try channeling them into something useful instead. Writing down what you feel, rather than responding emotionally in the moment, helps you get a better grasp on your feelings overall while teaching you all about yourself and helping you better understand what makes you tick. Journaling is a powerful tool to learn what truly matters to you while tracking your own emotional growth.

5. Talk It Out

Of course, just because you might be dealing with extreme moods and emotions doesn't mean you should keep everything to yourself. In addition to journaling, you may want to use this time to express yourself, whether that's talking through your feelings with someone you trust or creating a new boundary with someone to create a greater piece for yourself. In fact, a bit of journaling can help you get to the place where you can precisely say what you need to say.

6. Make Family Time

While Gemini season was about meeting people and forging new friendships, Cancer's era is a time for strengthening your bonds with the people you already know and love—especially your family. Also, keep in mind that it's a season not just of caring, but also being cared for. Schedule a get-together with the fam, whether you go out for dinner or gather at home for a quiet meal followed by a board game or a movie, and don't resist if the people you love want to give you a bit of pampering, for a change.

7. And 'Me Time,' Too

Over the next month or so, making time for yourself to recuperate and recharge might be more necessary than usual. Chances are that you'll be feeling extra sensitive—as will the rest of the world—so there are times when it will be wise to retreat into your shell and simply remove yourself from the situation before anyone says something they might come to regret. Quiet time will be your friend, and lying down, even if it's not to sleep, is about to become your best friend.

8. Redecorate

No zodiac sign is associated with the home more closely than Cancer, so take the time this season to make your dwelling a place of peace and restoration. This is the perfect excuse to tidy up, remove clutter and  redecorate a bit so that you truly love the space you live within. After all, a clear space creates a clear mind.

9. Spend Time at Home

And speaking of creating a cozy home, there's no better time than Cancer season to embrace the home and be a total homebody. Be extra mindful about allowing your body to rest when it's needed. Spend more time cooking nice meals at home (or even ordering in), working on crafts and projects or just catching up on those shows you've been meaning to watch. If there's ever been a time to just stay in your pajamas and relax, it's now.
