Carson Lueders Shares the True Tale of Heartbreak That Inspired ‘One That Got Away’
Earlier this month, artist and viral sensation Carson Lueders dropped his first single of 2024, "One That Got Away," and the hit song is only a first taste of the star's new musical direction.
The irresistible pop track reflects on lost love, with Carson wishing things could have turned out differently and he never would have let her slip away. The song also received its own music video co-starring viral Brazilian actress Gabriella Saraivah, putting her chemistry with Carson front and center as they embark on an epic summer romance. In just two weeks, it received more than half a million views on YouTube—and it's only getting started. We got the chance to catch up with Carson to discuss the story behind the track and what we can expect from him next, and he shared it all with us in the interview below.
The Story Behind 'One That Got Away'
Carson Lueders: Yes, "One That Got Away" was written about a girl that I had very serious feelings for. The feeling of letting go of that person can cause intense emotions and living through this experience is what helped me write the song.

CL: The song means a lot to me, as it displays a variety of emotions that I've dealt with myself. I really hope listeners can relate and connect to not only what I am feeling, but also what they have felt as well.

Carson's Favorite Lyric
CL: My favorite lyric is, "Don't be the one that got away, oh baby that'd be a shame. If I had my way, we would've never been away." To me, this part of the song really shows how important this person is and not wanting to let go of them.
