Celebs Who Have Left Other Famous People on Read
As it turns out, getting left on read (or leaving someone on read) isn't just something that happens to normal people.
Believe it or not, celebrities are also guilty of not only leaving others on read, but being left on read themselves. Being put on read is defined as texting someone who sees your message (which you know thanks to read receipts) but makes a conscious decision not to text back—and let's just say, it doesn't feel great.
If you've ever been left on read, rest assured that you're in some pretty good company. Scroll down for a list of celebs who had the guts to leave other famous people on read.
Billie Eilish to Shawn Mendes
Billie revealed she left Shawn on read during an appearance on Complex's First We Feast in April 2019. When the "Ocean Eyes" singer was asked to reveal the last famous person she texted, she said it was Shawn but then admitted to basically ghosting the Grammy nominee. "Shawn Mendes texted me, but I didn't respond," she explained before laughing. Luckily Shawn, who is a big fan of Billie's music, was able to laugh the whole thing off. He later Tweeted, "LOL wow" in response to Billie's revelation.
Heidi Klum to Drake
Drake may be one of the most famous recording artists in the game, but even that wasn't enough to warrant a text back from Heidi Klum in early 2018. As the model revealed to Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show in Sept. of that year, she received a message from the rapper after choosing him in a game of "Would You Rather" during an earlier appearance on Ellen's show.
About a week after the episode aired, Drake reached out, but his message came just after Heidi met her now-fiance, musician Tom Kaulitz. "You snooze, you lose. He was basically, like, a week too late," the Project Runway alum told Ellen. Though Heidi did admit to being "embarrassed" by the texting mishap, she explained, "I never texted him back because I found the love of my life."
Noah Centineo to a Writer on Busy Philipps' Busy Tonight Talk Show
Noah Centineo may have played a total charmer in To All the Boys I've Loved Before, but in Nov. 2018, actress Busy Philipps tarnished his good boy image just a tad when she revealed during an interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden that the young heartthrob (who happened to be seated next to her at the time) ghosted one of her pals.
"He was kind of chatting with a friend of mine but then he ghosted her," the Dawson's Creek alum explained. Noah said he didn't know what she was talking about at first, but when Busy mentioned it was one of the writers on her talk show, Noah seemed to know exactly who Busy was referring to. The pair laughed about it, and the whole thing was pretty harmless, but Busy later admitted she felt badly about outing Noah's behavior.
Russell Brand to Katy Perry
Apparently even being married doesn't make a celeb safe from being put on read. Russell Brand and Katy Perry tied the knot in 2010, and two years later the comedian reportedly sent his wife a text message asking for a divorce. He then switched his phone off and never spoke to her again. The "Fireworks" singer alluded to the mishap in an interview with The Telegraph after she was asked if she was on speaking terms with her ex-husband. "He hasn't spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce," she explained. Ouch!
Keith Urban to Nicole Kidman
Though Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman tied the knot in 2006, their marriage almost didn't happen because the country crooner didn't call Nicole for four months after they were first introduced. "I had such a crush on him and he wasn't interested in me. It's true!" the actress told Ellen DeGeneres in Feb. 2017. "He didn't call me for four months." The talk show host jokingly chimed in: "I don't know, seems like he didn't like you. That you would stay with him is weird."
