A Definitive Ranking of Chick-fil-A’s Dipping Sauces

We're very passionate about Chick-fil-A, and no Chick-fil-A experience is complete without dipping sauces.

But not everyone agrees on which sauces are the best, so we decided to rank them all. We hopped on over to our local Chick-fil-A this morning to get a bunch of Chick-n-Minis and one of every sauce for a taste test. Here were our results:

9. Ketchup

We asked for one of every dipping sauce and were given ketchup, so we felt we had to include it on this list. We've never been ones to dip chicken nuggets in ketchup, and we're not about to start now. It tastes fine with Chick-fil-A's chicken, but it doesn't elevate the flavor like all of the other sauces. Plus, chicken and ketchup just sound gross to us.

8. Zesty Buffalo Sauce

This is just a personal preference, but we're not massive fans of buffalo wings and sauce in general. Though the heat is nice and the creaminess makes it tastier than most buffalo sauces, the strong vinegar doesn't seem to complement the chicken.

7. Polynesian Sauce

This is where the quality jumps way up for us. It's a more mature take on a classic sweet and sour sauce. Though some might find it too sweet, we think the flavor has a nice balance.

6. Honey Mustard Sauce

The honey mustard sauce has the sweetness of honey all the way through, with a spicy and sour mustard finish that prevents it from being a one-note sauce. The complexity of the flavor always has us coming back for more.

5. Barbecue Sauce

The fact that the ultra-delicious barbecue sauce is this far down on the list speaks to how delicious all of Chick-fil-A's sauces are. This classic sauce is sweet, smokey and bold, and it appeals to pretty much any palate.

4. Chick-fil-A Sauce

It's tough to place Chick-fil-A Sauce's unique flavor. According to the company, it's a blend of the ranch, barbecue and honey mustard sauces. The result is a sauce that's creamy, tangy and smokey all at once. If you always spend way too long trying to figure out which dipping sauce to use, it might be the perfect choice for you.

3. Garlic & Herb Ranch Sauce

We're as surprised as you that Chick-fil-A's ranch sauce ranked this highly on the list, but every time we try it, it's so much better than we remembered. The garlic and herb flavor is quite strong, giving the sauce a bolder taste than you'd expect.

2. Sweet & Spicy Sriracha Sauce

Chick-fil-A's sriracha sauce is the newest on this list, and we hadn't ever tried it before this morning's taste test. While we like sriracha, we never expected it to be this delicious. It has all of the heat of chili paste with a sweetness that adds complexity without mellowing out the spice. If hot sauce is your go-to every time, you have to try this sauce.

1. Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce

Not everyone knows about Chick-fil-A's Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce because it comes in condiment packets rather than the dipping cups of the other sauces and it's typically offered with the restaurant's grilled offerings—but it is a sauce to top all sauces. It's creamy and sweet with powerful, smokey notes of barbecue sauce. There's nothing else quite like it.
