A Definitive Ranking of Chomps Trial Pack Meat Sticks

As lifelong beef jerky lovers, we've quickly fallen in love with Chomps and their better-for-you approach to the classic, meaty treats.

Their meat sticks are high in protein and free of sugar and preservatives, with simple ingredients starting with 100% grass-fed beef, antibiotic-free turkey and sustainably farmed venison. Best of all, though, they taste incredible. The brand was kind enough to send us their  Trial Pack, featuring six of their best-selling flavors, and below, we've ranked them all from good to best.

6. Sea Salt Beef

We're starting with Chomps' Sea Salt Beef flavor, not because it's bad, but because it's the least exciting of Chomps' bold flavors. It tastes clean, with a great, lightly salted beef taste, making it a simple, neutral snack for any time. It's just not packing the same intensity we usually crave when we snap into a jerky stick.

5. Original Turkey

For us, it's a big jump up to the Original Turkey flavor. The seasoning is perfect, adding celery powder, black pepper, red pepper, garlic and coriander to high-quality turkey for a satisfying, 80-calorie stick. We just prefer the meatier flavor of the other sticks to come on this list.

4. Salt & Pepper Venison

Venison (deer meat) isn't everyone's cup of tea, but we think Chomps Salt & Peppe Venison stick is a palatable snack any meat-lover will adore. It says "salt and pepper," but it also includes garlic and coriander for a well-balanced and well-seasoned flavor, and the venison isn't super gamey, just slightly muskier than beef.

3. Original Beef

You may read "Original" and think "bland," but this stick is anything but. It's got the ideal amount of spice, combining the brand's signature blend of two types of pepper with garlic and coriander to bring out the great natural flavor of the beef. If you're not into strong flavors, we can see why this would be your favorite.

2. Taco Seasoned Beef

While the flavors in the Chomps' Taco Seasoned Beef sticks might be a bit strong for some, we find them just right. These sticks add the Mexican-inspired flavors of cumin, paprika, chili, onion and oregano to the mix to actually taste like the beef that goes in a taco,

1. Jalapeño Beef

And finally, there's our very favorite flavor, Jalapeño Beef. This beef stick incorporates real jalapeño peppers for a fiery kick in every bite and a heat that lingers at the back of the throat without overpowering the other seasonings. If you don't like spice, steer clear. Otherwise, we think you'll adore this one as much as we do.
