Items Necessary for Decorating Your Room for Christmas (On a Budget)

If you're stuck inside this holiday season, you're not alone.

We know, it sucks, but we figure we might as well make the most of our situation. If you're celebrating Christmas this year, we think you should go all out on the decorations.

Even if you're on a tight budget, it's important to bring some cheer to your living space. Keep reading to find out what items are necessary for decorating your room for Christmas on a budget:

Twinkly Lights

No Christmas is complete without loads of twinkly lights! Chances are, your family has a Christmas box in the attic or garage, so grab some white ones to hang up on your walls. They're perfect for setting the mood, and you won't need to turn on your regular lights with them on. It'll feel super cozy, heck, you might even want to keep them up year round!

Lots of Candles

Speaking of lighting, we think naturally lit candles look so dreamy. Whether you have a bundle of Bath & Body Works scented candles or tea lights, all of them should be lit up. In this case, the more the merrier! Make sure you have at least one with a delicious scent that makes you think of the holidays.

A Tree or Plant

If you have the means to ball out on a Christmas tree, by all means, go for it! But, if you'd rather not dish out the money, no need to worry. If you have another sort of plant or tree in your house, use it as a makeshift Christmas tree. Just add some lights and ornaments to give it that holiday vibe.

Garland or Tinsel

We know tinsel can be pretty messy and it's not for everyone, but there is nothing quite like it. Decorate your room or house with tinsel to get a beautiful effect. Or, if you'd rather stick to garlands, they can look just as festive. We think they would be cute placed on your bed's headboard, above the fireplace (if you have one) or even above your bedroom door.

Fake Window Frost

If you live in a place where your windows don't naturally frost, get into the Christmas spirit by purchasing fake frost. It's relatively cheap and typically comes in a spray can. Simply spray the edges of your window for that perfectly frosted look.

Mistletoe

Even if you don't have a special someone this holiday season, mistletoe is still a total must. Hang it above your bedroom door and give your pet dog lots of smooches underneath it. We think this would look adorable on your next IG story. Maybe you'll find out someone has a crush on you!

Fireplace

Lastly, a fireplace is essential. We know not everyone has one, but we do all have access to YouTube. Just play a fireplace video on repeat on your TV. These vids usually come with a beautiful crackling sound and look pretty real. This will make you feel cozy and totally get you into the holiday spirit.
