Cimorelli Inspires and Empowers With The I Can Be Society!
Cimorelli have partnered up with the I Can Be Society, which aims to empower people to go after what they believe in through the stories of people who have achieved their dreams! We spoke with the six singing sisters about their own experiences of making it in the music industry and going viral!
"The greatest lesson we have learned in this industry is to stay true to ourselves and stand up for what we believe in," the Cimorelli sisters explained. "There is so much in this world that opposes individuality and unique thought, and it's so important to stay strong in following your morals and beliefs. This world may try to silence you, but it will never have power over you unless you let it! Know yourself, who you are, and be proud of that. You will respect yourself so much more if you stand up for your beliefs, rather than just going along with the crowd."
As people will chase their goals, many are their own biggest obstacles to success. According to Cimorelli, the two biggest things that hold people back from reaching their fullest potential are insecurity and fear.
"Everyone will come up against criticism and others telling them they can't pursue their dreams, or that they're not good enough," they said.
This criticism often comes from strangers, or anonymous people on the other side of a computer, they explained, but sometimes it can come from parents or even people who seem to be friends.
"We have to cultivate a strong inner-voice of confidence and faith–faith that we were put on this earth to do good, and that we all have special gifts and talents that are meant to be used for amazing things!" they said.
Cimorelli found success virtually overnight after their YouTube cover of the Miley Cyrus hit "Party In the USA" went viral. Since then, they've amassed nearly 3 million subscribers on YouTube and signed a record deal with Island Records.
Initially, the fame was a bit of the shock to the sisters.
"It used to be strange, having people come up to us randomly to ask for pictures when we're out and about, but now we're used to it," they said. "And there is definitely a downside to it–sometimes people who used to be your 'friends' start acting weird and it's really uncomfortable."
Cimorelli hopes to be able to use that recognition to change lives.
"For us, it's more about using that influence to hopefully be good role models and make a positive difference in our society," they said. "Fame can cause a lot of damage to a person if they aren't careful to stay humble and grounded, and we are very aware of that. I think the fact that we have each other helps us stay down to earth, and going to church every Sunday is definitely a reality check!"
Cimorelli's involvement in the I Can Be Society is just another step in their mission to set a positive example for their fans and inspire people to go after their dreams.
"We are so happy to be a part of this mission!" they said. "We truly believe that anyone can achieve any dream or goal they may have. We really want to encourage people to pursure their passions and live lives of purpose and hope. We are living proof that you're never too young to start!"
Most importantly, they wanted to let their fans know that none of what they do would be possible without the people who have advocated for them and supported them throughout the years.
"We just want to thank all of our fans for being so amazing, encouraging and supportive!" they said. "It really means a lot to us and inspires us to keep going. We are so thankful to be able to connect with so many amazing people around the world, and we just want them to know we are so, so grateful for them!"
