Clear Theory Makes Hydration Easier Than Ever—Without Added Dyes or Unnecessary Junk

As much as I always try to drink enough water, it can be tough.

When I'm in the zone, I can sometimes forget to do necessary things like taking breaks and drinking plenty of water, and that's made even harder with constantly heading up to the kitchen to fill and refill water bottles—not to mention that sometimes, plain water just doesn't sound all that appetizing.

Anything that can make my water work harder for me while also tasting amazing is very welcome, so when the folks behind Clear Theory reached out to me to ask if I'd be interested in trying their water boosters, I happily agreed. I got the chance to try out each of their four flavors, and here's what I've found out.

The Brand

Clear Theory makes transparent water boosters designed to enhance your water with electrolytes and zinc, without any unnecessary additives like artificial ingredients or dyes. It contains a mix of sodium, potassium and chloride, plus a hint of glycerin and sugar to enhance the absorption of those electrolytes for rehydration and muscle support. Zinc is also great for supporting immunity.

Clear Theory is just 20 calories per serving. It's also kosher, gluten-free and allergen-free. It can be added to enhance plain water, or even seltzer, club soda or sparkling water. Just add two squeezes per eight oz. of water to get the full benefits. The brand comes in Fruit Punch, Blue Raspberry, Orange Vanilla and Watermelon Berry flavors available in convenient 1.62 oz. containers. Four packs of individual flavors can be purchased for $19.99, or you can get a variety pack with all four flavors for the same price.

The Flavors

Fruit Punch

I've tried liquid drink mixes in the past that just added a bunch of sugar flavor to my drinks, so I was curious to find out how I'd like Clear Theory, and it was love at first sip. All it took was a couple of squirts into my cup and it essentially tasted like a bold, fruity punch—and it didn't even have to be red. The flavor was apparent throughout the water just giving the cup a little swirl to mix, and the punch-like flavor instantly won me over. I couldn't believe it was just 20 calories, and it left me feeling as energized as any sports drink. There are also eight servings in every container, equaling about half a gallon of flavored water. It was a great experience, and it left me eager to try the next flavor.

Blue Raspberry

Blue Raspberry was the flavor I was looking forward to most, and it was another clear winner. This one seriously tastes like sour raspberry candy, and all it takes is two squirts. Though I think some might find it a little too sweet, tart and in-your-face, I was an instant fan. It makes drinking water so appealing, and I may have to invest in the four-pack of these.

Orange Vanilla

This one sounded a little weird to me at first, but the Clear Theory Orange Vanilla is actually pretty tasty. It doesn't quite have a creamsicle taste, but the blend of citrus and vanilla does work to make a fine flavor. Even though this is my least favorite of the four varieties, I still find myself drinking plenty of it, and I imagine that some will find it a fast favorite.

Watermelon Berry

Last but not least is the Watermelon Berry, which is a flavor combination made in heaven. This one is also sour and candy-like, with awesome summery flavors, making it super craveable. It will definitely quench your thirst and keep you coming back for more, and will probably be another fan favorite.

Bottom Line

I hoped Clear Theory would be good, and it honestly exceeded all of my expectations. The flavors are absolutely delicious and super easy to add to your water, and the fact that it's also packed with electrolytes and zinc makes it a no-brainer. It may be on the pricier side, especially for drink mixes (and doing the cost breakdown to $5 per half-gallon on flavored water) but it very much gets the job done, and if you're all about flavor, it's fully worth the investment.
