These Are the Makeup Trends You Can Expect to See at Coachella This Year

Coachella is just one month away, and if you plan on heading out to the desert for some music festival fun, it's time to start brainstorming your outfits, hair and makeup.

We were curious about trending makeup looks, in particular, and reached out to Charlie Riddle, who was kind enough to give us all of the tea. Charlie is a makeup artist and the global beauty director and head of artistry for Stila Cosmetics, so he definitely knows what he's talking about. Sweety High: Tell us about yourself!

Charlie Riddle: I am Charlie Riddle, a makeup artist based in New York. I'm also the global beauty director and head of artistry for Stila Cosmetics! I'm originally from Sydney, Australia and grew up in the Pacific Northwest.

 

SH: What have been your favorite makeup and beauty trends from past Coachellas?

CR: I love seeing all of the glitter moments and colored graphic liners.

SH: What makeup trends can we expect at Coachella in 2023?

CR: I think we will see a trend of "Pretty Goth" makeup. Bolder and darker colors on eyes and lips. Also, I think sparkly and shimmery moments all over the face will be huge.

 

SH: Any tips for achieving those makeup trends?

CR: For a girly-goth moment, try a black lip liner with your favorite color or gloss. It goes with every color and adds this fun dramatic intensity.

For a subtle sparkle effect, apply a product like a highlighter to the eyes, cheekbones and lips to give an all-over wet effect.

SH: What makeup products should we keep in our bags at Coachella?

CR: Stila's upcoming summer collection was made for music festivals! SH: What celebrities' makeup looks are you excited to see at Coachella this year?

CR: BlackPink for sure since they are headlining! Also excited to see what all the TikTok girlies will do, since they are not afraid to experiment with their looks.
