What Coco Quinn Will and Won’t Reveal About Her New Single ‘Secrets’
Lately, dancer, singer, actress and social media superstar Coco Quinn has been doing it all, and that includes releasing iconic tracks.
Her latest is the original song, "Secrets," a powerfully relatable breakup track that cuts right to the core. The track also has a captivating music video featuring singer, actor and content creator Gavin Magnus, and watching it left us needing to know everything we could about the song. Lucky for us, Coco Quinn was spilling to spill everything about it—or almost everything.
Sweety High: What was the recording process behind "Secrets"?
Coco Quinn: I recorded the song "Secrets" at Capitol Records. It took about two hours to record. I had my vocal coach there to help me.
SH: What does the track mean to you?
CQ: It's a song that I feel so many people can relate to in so many different ways. It's about not being able to let go of something or someone that you really love. In this story, Gavin is keeping a secret from me that he is sick, and instead of telling me what is wrong, he hides his sickness from me. He distances himself and I can't figure out what is wrong until he leaves me a note explaining what is going on.
SH: Do you feel like you were trying to evoke a true to life experience when you were singing the song?
CQ: Yes it is, but I would prefer to keep it a secret.
SH: What aspect of the song was it important for you to get across in the music video?
CQ: It was important for me to sing about the fact that you cannot let go of something or someone that you really love.
SH: What was it like to film with Gavin Magnus?
CQ: I always love filming with Gavin! I always just have fun so much fun being around him.
SH: Do you have a favorite memory from the shooting of the video?
CQ: I liked the scenes we filmed in the desert. It was so peaceful and quiet out there.
SH: What are your favorite lyrics from the track? Why?
CQ: "I don't know how long it will take for all the hurt and memories to fade." And I also like "Two faces just passing by like that and I'm gone, am I gone." I love these lyrics because I think many people can relate to them. Sometimes when you're hurting it seems like that pain is never going to end and the memories will never fade. Also, when someone leaves your life, it feels so weird—like your strangers—almost as if you have never known them.
