We Spoke With Entrepreneur and Founder of Colorful Natalie, Natalie Acopian

One of those incredible brands is Colorful Natalie. What makes it so great? Well, it was founded by Natalie Acopian, who at just 24 years of age has already proven to be a powerhouse in the fashion industry. We were begging to know about her process and where she draws her inspiration and were lucky enough to sit down with her and get all the details. Sweety High: Tell us about yourself!
Natalie Acopian: My name is Natalie Acopian. I am a 24-year-old entrepreneur and the founder of the online clothing boutique, Colorful Natalie. I am a lover of social media, fashion and most importantly—the color pink (it's not just a color but a lifestyle).
SH: How did Colorful Natalie come to be?
NA: During my senior year of college, I knew that I did not want to have the typical desk job that most of my peers were applying for. While my friends were applying to jobs and talking about their interviews, I was interested in doing something more. I know it's cliché, but if we only are given one life, I do not want to waste any moment doing something I am not passionate about. I had always been passionate about fashion, design, etc. and wanted to bring my vision to life. I was always being asked where I got my clothes and so I thought if I could monetize something I was already good at, that would be my dream job. I knew I wanted to start my own business, but I did not know what that business was going to be.
In March of 2019, I was in Los Angeles which was when I think the clothing boutique aspect of my business was really brought to life. I went to the Fashion District in L.A.—which if you don't know what it is, it's basically a neighborhood in Downtown L.A. where shop owners can go and find wholesale vendors for their brands. I went one day and came back with a whole bunch of items to sell on my website and that's when everything started.
SH: Where do you draw your inspiration?
NA: Pinterest! I am obsessed with scrolling through my Pinterest. My home feed is curated so perfectly and gives me so much inspiration. I get to see all the latest and trending styles just from scrolling through and seeing what influencers and celebrities on my feed are wearing.
I actually used to be mainly focused on graphic design (on my IG accounts @colorfulnatalie + @moodsofnatalie) where a bunch of my posts went viral on Pinterest. Before starting my brand, I would create graphic design posts using images from Pinterest and that really grew a following behind me. From there, I was able to take that following to my clothing brand.
SH: How would you describe Colorful Natalie?
NA: Colorful Natalie is the perfect mix between girly and street style. It is what my dream closet would look like. It is perfectly curated to my exact tastes, and I would never sell something that I wouldn't wear myself. I am an online shopping addict myself and one of the issues I often come across while online shopping is having to go to multiple websites to put together a look. When shopping on the Colorful Natalie website, I hope my customers can purchase everything they need at once and avoid needing to go to other websites to look for something we might not have. We are the one-stop shop to all things Pinterest style.
SH: How would you describe your personal style?
NA: My personal style is exactly the same as what the Colorful Natalie website looks like. Bright colors, trendy pieces, sometimes feminine and other times hip. Life is too short to wear a boring outfit, and I always want to stand out with what I put together.
SH: Who is Colorful Natalie for?
NA: Colorful Natalie is for girls that share our love for street style as well as feminine style. The typical shopping age group for our site is between the ages of 13 to 25, although we have received orders from all ages and people! I would say that most people up on social media and TikTok trends are the customers we mainly bring in.
SH: What are your bestsellers?
NA: Some of our bestsellers right now are our Mimi Tops ($35) which come in pink, yellow, blue and green, our Pink Flamin' Hot Pants ($60) and our reworked pieces like our Paris Pink Corset ($75), with more reworked and upcycled pieces on the way!
SH: What pieces does every girl need from Colorful Natalie?
NA: Every girl needs at least one statement piece from Colorful Natalie. Our pants are definitely some of the most unique I've seen on an online boutique site. Go crazy and get a statement pair of pants from us! Our Pink Valentine Jeans ($65), Butterfly Kisses Denim ($69) and Blue Heart White Denim ($59).
SH: What is the price range of your products?
NA: Usually, products range from $10 to $60. We try to make most items affordable so everyone can get in on our style! We do have vintage NASCAR jacket drops every month and those can sell from $80 to $300+, but this is just a monthly collection we have. They usually sell out within 24 hours.
SH: What types of products do you offer?
NA: We have a lot of crop tops, shirts, skirts, pants, dresses as well as lots of trending accessories. From the latest jewelry to sunglasses, to hair and phone accessories—we have all the necessities to put together a fire outfit.
SH: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
NA: My day is filled with me wearing different hats to help my business run smoothly. I just think about larger brands and their success and how one day that will be me. I spend my days pouring my heart out into my business and that is what success is built on.
I am extremely passionate about my brand and spend every second of the day working to make it better. If you pour your heart and soul into something, there is no way you won't be successful.
