Pop Duo Crash Adams on Looking on the Bright Side and Making Their Own Luck in ‘Lucky’

When we're feeling a little down, listening to Crash Adams never fails to perk us right back up.

The pop duo consists of singer Rafaele Massarellli (Crash) and guitarist Vince Sasso (Adams), best known for summery feel-good tracks, including the viral single "Give Me a Kiss." With their latest release, "Lucky," they're not letting up. It's an ode to optimistic attitudes, the power of positivity and the fact that we all make our own luck, and it's hard not to smile when you listen. We also adore its music video, with the band performing random acts of kindness in L.A., sharing the money that would go into a high-production music video to spread a bit of their luck around. Their joy is utterly infectious, and we simply had to learn more about the track, straight from the guys themselves. Read our full interview with them below.

The Story Behind 'Lucky'

Crash Adams: "Lucky" is literally the story of our life. We were at a writing camp in Palm Springs and we started to reflect on how fortunate we are to be doing what we're doing. We really questioned what it was that led to us being in this position and why we were so happy along the way since our lives didn't unfold anywhere close to how we thought they would. We arrived at one answer. The moment we realized that our happiness and success were a conscious choice, the lives we lived completely changed, and we started getting "lucky."

What 'Lucky' Means

Crash Adams: The song is an anthem for those who want to manifest their dreams. We hope it will show our listeners that anything is possible and encourage them to choose to always see beauty in the face of ugliness.

We sacrificed our entire lives, all the money we had in our bank accounts and many relationships to chase a crazy dream, but we're doing it without fear.

The more that people focus on the positive, the better our world will be for the people around us. If you work hard to put yourself in a position to be happy and successful and wholeheartedly believe that your vision is true, you just might get "Lucky."

The Band's Favorite Lyrics

Crash: "All I want's in front of me, so I'm working every day to be a little more lucky." It's a reminder that everything you want is right there. All you have to do is work as hard as you possibly can to put yourself in a position to receive abundance, and when you're ready, the universe will make it happen.

Adams: "I thought happiness was hard to find, that I could never love my life, if I hadn't made it by 25." Our entire lives, we always thought that there was a small window of time to achieve our dreams and we were always in a rush. We thought that our happiness would depend on achieving these dreams before that window expired, but that's not true. Happiness comes from within.

On Signing to Warner Music Canada and Warner Records

Crash Adams: We couldn't be more excited to be signed to Warner. They're hungry, and so are we. Our team is young and dialed in, and they're not afraid of innovation or disrupting the norm, which is how we got here. We understand that at the end of the day, it's a business and we have to be the ones who take the initiative to drive the ship, but they've matched our work ethic and we couldn't be happier. Most of all, they act like a family and are concerned with the long term over short term, which is exactly how we roll. We're not here to just make a quick buck. We prioritize our longevity, and we want to be at the top even 20 years from now.

What's Next

Crash Adams: The second half of the year is about to be wild. We're about to release more music than we ever have before. Our next single will be released shortly, and it's about to be spicy af. We'll also be dropping a full EP in September. With new music, you can expect an elevated look, new music videos and a ton of fresh content. We're also excited to be hitting the live show circuit. Keep an eye out because we just might pop out in your city.

Final Thoughts

Crash Adams: First and foremost, we want to say thank you to your platform for allowing us to have a voice, as well as to everyone who has supported us on our journey. We have nothing but gratitude for the life that we live. The name Crash Adams comes from a Robin Williams movie about healing people in unconventional ways through spreading love and laughter. That's what we want to bring to people who hear our music, see our content and meet us in person. We can't wait to see what the future brings.
