Are Crowns Fashion’s Newest It-Girl Accessory?
Bandanas, bag pom poms and… glitter shoes?
No trend is too crazy for the fashion set these days—the more personality, the better! So believe us when we say that crowns—yes, crowns, as in the ones worn by Princess Kate Middleton, are the newest fad to hit the fashion crowd.
Don't believe us? Here's proof. For the spring 2016 season Hedi Slimane, the designer for Saint Laurent, sent punk-loving, '90s grunge girls down the runway, each wearing princess-worthy tiaras. These said tiaras were prim, yet so not proper, giving off an edgy, downtown vibe fit for the cool girl.
Rest assured, Italian fashion blogger-turned-mogul Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad was first on the trend. We first spotted a tiara off the runway on Chiara at Coachella last year, and instantly knew the crown trend would have legs.
Sometimes, it takes a minute for a look or trend to gain speed, so it's no surprise we're just starting to see crowns take off. Chiara's crown craze is still going strong; she just wore one during New York Fashion Week.
Then, there was Dolce and Gabbana's Fall 2017 Runway show where fashion blogger Aimee Song of Song of Style was one of the many it-girls who sported a decadent guilded gown down the runway.
Still not convinced? Well, celebs including Katy Perry, Cara Delevingne, and Lana Del Rey aren't newbies when it comes to the crown trend either.
