Overwhelmed by Your Horoscope Apps? Try CUSP, the Astrology App That’s ALL About Relationships
I've tried out many astrology apps in my time, and while it can be fun to check all of the various unique aspects of my chart and what everything means, sometimes, that whole process can be downright overwhelming.
For me, that's one of the biggest appeals of CUSP Astrology, a brand new simplified astrology app that focuses entirely on love and relationships, without too many extra bells and whistles that distract and confuse you. The app officially launched today, Oct. 29, but the team behind it was kind enough to give me an early preview, and it's quickly become my go-to app for my daily love horoscope.
The App
CUSP Astrology is a free app with a focus on love and romance. While some astrology apps use algorithms and programming to throw every possible astrological aspect under the sun at you, Cusp keeps things super simple with their daily horoscope and compatibility analysis reports, made by real people. It's personally curated by a group of expert astrologers: Kirah Tabourn, Isaiah Alperatz, Natali Nicole, Samylda Charles, Charm Torres, Djenneba Drammeh and Mercurious George.
Those aspects make it extremely easy to use, and give it a personable touch that's often missing in other apps. If you're curious, you can download it on your phone now in the App Store or Google Play.

The Experience
After you download the app, getting set up with CUSP is a breeze. I simply had to create a login, then add my birthday, birth time and birth location for the app to generate the four most important aspects of my chart: my sun sign, my moon sign, my rising sign and my Venus sign. P.S. If you don't know your birth time or birth location, ask your parents, or track down your birth certificate!
From there, you can choose how you want CUSP to work for you. I allowed the app to send me notifications, so I get my daily love horoscope every day at about noon. You can also choose to get this emailed to you instead, or not to be notified at all, and simply sign in when you feel like it.
So far, I'm a big fan of these daily horoscopes. While you might think that they'd all pertain to dating and romance, so far, mine have been about all aspects of love. For example, today's horoscope focused on how to love myself and love life for the sake of my own joy, while previous horoscopes centered around things like setting boundaries and emphasizing the things that inspire me in my life. They're less about what will happen, and more about how to approach living my life—which I always find way more valuable and empowering. It also helps that CUSP has vibrantly colored and gorgeous illustrations that make each reading way more fun to look at. I'm not quite sure, but I believe the Leo signs above my reading have to do with the fact that the moon is currently in Leo.

Another great feature of CUSP is the Compatibility Analysis. Here, you can see a compatibility analysis between any two people by typing in their names and birthdays. It's always fun to see how you match with friends, and partners (or potential partners), and you can easily select your own profile to save time, and find friends' profiles within the app to see how you match with them.
Of course, this only works if they're also in the app. Otherwise, you'll have to manually type in their name and birthdate (plus birthplace and time, if you know them) every time. It's not a huge deal because it seems like this report between signs doesn't change, so you won't be typing it in all the time, but it would still be nice to be able to save friends' info. This report also focuses entirely on the sun signs, and it would be interesting to see if they match the compatibility of Venus signs and other aspects in the future.
To check this out, I decided to add match myself with my husband to see what it would say. He's an Aries and I'm a Sagittarius, so we're both fire signs. I'd say we're extremely compatible, and the reading I got seemed to agree. The report says we just get each other, which I find to be quite accurate.

The next big CUSP feature is "How the Signs Love," which breaks down all 12 zodiac signs and how they act in relationships and in life, so you can learn about each of them in more depth. This doesn't just cover sun signs, but Venus signs as well (which is said to dictate love and relationships). On your profile page on the app, you can click "My Astrological Overview" to see your sun sign and Venus sign descriptions in the same place, but you can also use this tool to learn more about the people you care about.

For example, my sun sign is Sagittarius while my Venus sign is Capricorn. I can be optimistic, relaxed and adventurous, and I seek love that doesn't restrict my potential, while I demand excellence and stability in my relationships. To tell the truth, I've never felt like Sagittarius described me very well, so I'm not sure exactly how accurate that one is. I've always related much more to my Pisces moon, so I'd also love to see the app add descriptions for moon signs and rising signs in the future, so I could get a fuller picture.

And lastly, the app also connects to the dating app LOLO, developed by the same company using creative icebreaker games and a hint of astrology to match people. I didn't dig into this aspect of the app at all, but it's another interesting feature of the app.
Bottom Line
If you're looking for a super simple and focused love astrology app, CUSP is a great choice. It's simple and easy to use—and it definitely doesn't hurt that it's also free. I love their daily horoscopes for a little life guidance, and their compatibility analysis is super fun to play with. Even on day one, it has some great features, and I hope that in the future, even more get added. Even so, for now, I think it's great the way it is.
