Sadly, summer vacation is coming to an end, but it's not all bad—we all have an excuse to go shopping for the back-to-school season.
One of our favorite parts of preparing for the school year was deciding which backpack to buy. It can really dictate your entire vibe for the year—if we had a bag we didn't love, school was even less fun.
This year, we don't want you to be blue from having a backpack you don't love. Below, find six bags we found of varying prices and designs that you should consider for the 2023 school year.

Backpacks are notoriously expensive, but you don't have to spend an arm and leg for a good quality one. Target has plenty of great, affordable bags, but we especially love this mint green one from All in Motion. It's water-resistant—because there's bound to be one day you get caught in the rain on your way to or from school—and spacious enough to fit all your thick textbooks. And if you bring your laptop to school, there is even a compartment to conveniently protect your device from getting knocked around by your supplies.

Do we even have to explain JanSport? This brand has the most iconic backpacks in history, and to have that kind of legacy, you'll need to have superb reliability. If you really need convincing, we've had quite a few JanSport bags in our lifetime, and they stood the test of time, even when we were carrying a locker's worth of books and supplies in our backpack. More recently, they've been upping their game with trendy designs, and this strawberry bag has to be one of the cutest they've ever offered.

Billabong is an underrated brand to choose from in our eyes. While most of your peers are sporting bags from Adidas, Nike, The North Face, JanSport and whoever else, you can be one-of-a-kind with a beachy Billabong backpack. Yes, they are just as good as all the classic brands—the perfect size, tons of pockets, and multiple water bottle slots—but this one has more of a modern, feminine design.
