Denitia Relishes in the Moment in New Single ‘All the Sweet Tea’
Denitia's gorgeous new track "All the Sweet Tea" is an ode to slowing down and savoring the beauty of what's around you—and it's already one of our favorite songs of the summer.
Though Denitia might be best known as an R&B artist, lately, she's been taking a slightly different approach with a folksy country sound hearkening back to her roots, and we firmly believe she's never been better. Her song "Highways" was another instant fave, and her upcoming album of the same name is one of our most highly anticipated of the year.
The point is, we're obsessed, and we got the chance to chat with Denitia to find out more about "All the Sweet Tea," its lyrics and what the song means to her, and why exploring her country music side feels so right.
The Story Behind 'All the Sweet Tea'
Denitia: I was thinking about how quickly a moment in life passes. Time is always moving right along. There is so much in the world to see and experience and there is also so much beauty in a simple moment right where you are.

What 'All the Sweet Tea' Means
Denitia: I hope it inspires people. To me, it's a little bit bittersweet—we're always getting older and moving along in life, but there is also so much beauty and life to behold in the here and now. I hope it just brings some emotion to the everyday for listeners.

Denitia's Favorite Lyric
Denitia: "What I've been missing is your tender touch, 'cause if I've got you, then I have enough." Love is buoyant and makes everything in life more beautiful. Any kind of love—family, friends, significant other. For me, I was inspired by the love I have with my partner, it just makes the idea of time passing something I can handle because it passes by so beautifully because we have each other.

On Her Foray Into Country Music
Denitia: I grew up on the sounds of country music and it's embedded into the heart of who I am as a person and artist, it always has been. There's something very clarifying and grounded about creating music directly inspired by this source. It feels like I'm the closest I've ever been to who I am as an artist. It feels very pure and natural for me. This type of music feels very rooted for me and I'm excited to be a part of a long tradition of folk, country and Americana music.
