Everything You Wanted to Know About Singer-Songwriter Devon Cole
24-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter Devon Cole is having a major moment, and we couldn't be more thrilled for the deserving star.
The Toronto-based alt-pop artist most recently dropped her most raw and vulnerable track yet, "Call U After Rehab." Its sound is optimistic yet aching as Devon sings about realizing she needs to work on herself and heal before she can be in a healthy relationship, with a powerful kind of introspection that's effortlessly relatable. It's just the latest example of her signature songwriting—pairing her gorgeous voice with sharply witty lyricism—that has earned her 70 million streams so far, and she's just getting started. Devon has also been opening for Valley on tour, with upcoming dates throughout Canada both this month and next. Ahead of her upcoming shows, here's everything she revealed to us about herself as our latest Woman Crush Wednesday.

7. She's been in the back of a cop car.
"When I was 15, I ran away from home via my bike and I was asking random people which direction south was. They called the police, who came to pick me up. I was convinced that I was gonna bike to California to make a name for myself, and rub it in my family's face, who I was up in arms with throughout my teens. I always imagined California as a safe haven for people who are misunderstood, and I really wanted to be there instead of Canada. Now that I'm an artist, I get to go there three to four times a year, and things are good with my family too. It all worked out in the end!"

12. Above everything else, Devon wants to remind people never to give up on their biggest dreams.
"I fully came to terms with the fact that I would never be a pop star at some point in my teens. I was surrounded by people who were pursuing more traditional paths, and I couldn't imagine carving a musical path for myself. It wasn't until university when I met people who had released music that I began to think that maybe it wasn't as scary as I thought. Now that I'm a full-time artist, I can't imagine another life for myself. The reason I'm sharing this is to let people know that it's never too late to change your mind, start over, and do what you've always dreamed of doing."
