Disney’s New Fanny Packs Are the ’90s-Inspired Accessories We Need Right Now
Before wireless everything, going hands-free meant wearing a fanny pack instead of carrying a purse. It was both a useful and fun way of accessorizing in the '80s and '90s—until trends changed.
Now, the fanny pack trend has caught on again, and Disney has seized the moment.
The company has enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to get people wearing movie-themed hip packs again, and is even reintroducing some classic '90s Mickey Mouse ones.

With fanny packs having returned to runways, Disney's selection is growing again. As Disney Style contributor Ilana Gelfand noted on the site, the waist bags just can't be beat when you're going for hands-free and low-key. She argued that "fanny packs are and will probably always be the most practical form of on-the-go storage."
We don't disagree.
Times may have changed since their earlier glory days, but their utility hasn't. You can wear them on the front, side, or back, depending on what's most convenient, and you can always open them without taking them off. They work great for most activities, from hiking to strolling through the mall.
As a bonus, fanny packs also add a fun retro vibe. The Mickey Mouse Denim Hip Pack , for example, is a "classic Park style," according to Disney Style. It, along with a variety of others, are available at shopdisney.com. You can choose from both classic and more modern styles to get the hands-free experience.
