A Definitive Ranking of the 7 Best Christmas Movies on Disney+

If you've yet to venture into the magical world of Disney+, we strongly urge you to get on it ASAP!

By now, you've seen all the Baby Yoda memes and have heard about the Lizzie McGuire reboot. But did you know Disney+ also has a huge selection of Christmas movies? During the month of Dec., you can be sure to catch us watching a holiday-themed movie each day. It's the perfect way to channel your holiday spirit and spread Christmas cheer all around you.

But what should you watch? Keep reading for our definitive ranking of the seven best Christmas movies on Disney+:

7. Miracle on 34th Street

This established Christmas film has quite a few Academy Awards under its belt, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role. While it didn't lock down the Oscar for Best Picture, it's to this day arguably the most classic Christmas movie out there. And guess what? Disney+ has it! This age old tale is about a man claiming to be the real Santa Claus. He's then brought to court where his mental health is tested. That's all we're willing to give away, so go on, watch it for yourself and find out if he really is St. Nick.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Combining the spectacle and joy of two major holidays, Halloween and Christmas, The Nightmare Before Christmas was way before its time when it came to theaters in 1993. The musical follows Halloweentown's pumpkin king, Jack Skellington. When he happens upon Christmastown, a lightbulb turns on in his head, and he decides he wants the town for himself. This fantastic tale is one for the ages and we can't wait to watch it this holiday season.

5. 12 Dates of Christmas

We love a good ol' cheesy Christmas movie. They're totally predictable, yet we just have to see them through. 12 Dates of Christmas has a Hallmark touch and a TV movie vibe, but it works. The film follows Amy Smart's character, Kate, and her adventurous journey of repeating the same day over and over again. In a hurry to get out of her personal time warp, she's diligent in finding out why it's happening and how to stop it. Along the way, she meets a very cute guy, making her reconsider her life's recent decisions. It's the perfect movie to watch with your S.O. while sipping hot cocoa on the sofa!

4. The Santa Clause 2

The Santa Clause 2, aka the sequel to the OG movie, is arguably just as good as its predecessor. The movie skips ahead eight years in the future, where Scott has been dutifully fulfilling the role of Santa Claus. However, he finds out he needs to be married before next Christmas (which is just 30 days away), leading to a series of bad dates and frustrated outbursts. From cute reindeer, to adorable elves, to legendary figures we're all familiar with, this film is jam-packed with endearment from start to finish.

3. Home Alone

Imagine being left behind by your family, who's on their way to Paris, when you're just six years old. Doesn't seem possible, right? In Home Alone, that's exactly what happens. 6-year-olds are much brighter than we give them credit, though, because Kevin has the wits and smarts of someone far older. The film takes audiences through all his adventures, including stealing a toothbrush and scaring off a pizza delivery boy. This movie finds its way onto seemingly every holiday movie list, and for good reason!

2. Noelle

Noelle, a Disney+ original, has an all-star cast including Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader. They're the kids of the real Santa Claus, and when he unexpectedly dies, his son, Nick Kringle, is left with the family business. Things go awry, however, and Noelle Kringle, Santa's daughter, is left to clean up the mess. This film will have you laughing out loud and finding it difficult to pick sides. Noelle is certainly a classic in the making.

1. The Santa Clause

Our all-time fave Christmas movie, The Santa Clause, ironically starts off with Santa falling off the roof and inevitably meeting his death. Pretty eerie, right? Wrong! The father and son who accidentally scared Santa into falling off the roof are then swept off to the North Pole by reindeer. The father, Scott Calvin, is told he is now Santa—but that does not work for him. He has until Thanksgiving of next year to prepare for the role of a lifetime, and hilarity ensues.
