The Dos and Don’ts of Properly Wearing Perfume
Wearing perfume or body spray is a great way to walk through the day with extra confidence, or help you stand out in a crowd—but when applied wrong, things can go disastrously.

DON'T Buy a Full Size of Anything Until You've Used a Tester
It's crucial to remember that everyone's bodies are made differently, and that affects the way things smell on us. Just because you love the way a scent smells on your friend doesn't mean it will smell the same on you. Additionally, if you do like the way something smells on you, you never know if you'll get sick of it or if it will be overpowering after hours of having it on. Stick to a trial size of the scent you're curious about—that way you'll get a few wears in before committing to the cost of a full bottle.
DO Keep Your Surroundings in Mind Before Spraying Anything
There's a time and a place for a particular fragrance. If you're headed to the gym or class, or hopping on a plane, you absolutely don't want to wear your most potent aroma. A body spray or eau de toilette is ideal for something more casual. Whereas, if you're headed to date night, a bat mitzvah or a quinceañera, for example, this would be the time for a few spritzes of a powerful scent.

DO Walk Into a Spritz for a Lighter Effect
If you want your aroma to pack a punch, but not overpower, spray the bottle in the air a few times and walk into the fragrance. If subtlety is what you're after, you don't want to spray the scent directly onto your skin.
DON'T Rub Your Wrists Together After a Spritz
Even though we always see people rub their wrists together after a spritz, avoid doing so, as it actually dilutes the fragrance. If you don't want to overdo it and want to use one spritz for two wrists, spray one and gently tap the other with it.

DO Spray Stronger Fragrances on the Back of Your Neck
There are times when we want other people to get a good whiff of us, but we don't want to be overpowered ourselves. In those instances, spritzing a dab on the back of your neck, since it faces the opposite direction of your nose, won't overpower your olfactory nerves all day long.
