6 Little Things You Can Do to Be Your Best Self in 2023
Whether you're trying to go for a total glow-up or just want to level up the already amazing person that you are, the start of a new year is the perfect time to take action toward becoming your best self.
The best part? It doesn't need to be difficult! We're here to break the cycle of dangerous diets and practically torturous workout regimens you keep hearing about, instead providing you with a list of simple, little things you can do. So, are you ready to become your best self the easy way? Here are some things we'd recommend doing if so:
1. Visualize What You Want
While they may sound like something your kindergarten teacher would recommend during a crafting class, vision boards can be super helpful in helping you visualize what you want in life. This visualization is the first step in figuring out your goals and setting up a path to actually achieving them. Not into making a legit vision board? No problem! You can make a virtual one on Pinterest, or just think about the life you want before bed every night—whatever works best for you.

2. Set Your Alarm 10 Minutes Earlier
If you're in a committed relationship with your snooze button, we aren't necessarily going to tell you that you need to break things off. However, we do suggest a compromise of sorts: set your alarm just 10 minutes earlier so that even when you do hit snooze, you'll still be up at a decent time without it feeling like you had to force yourself out of bed extra early.

3. Eat Less Meat
We're not telling you that you need to give up meat completely to be your best self—especially if you love chicken nuggets like it's nobody's business. However, cutting back on animal-based products can have a major impact on your overall health, both inside and out. Try it out one day or even meal at a time, and take note of how you feel when you do reduce your overall meat intake (then thank us later).

4. Move Your Body More
There's no need to force yourself to go to a gym that gives you more anxiety than anything else or do some viral workout challenge that promises unrealistic results just to be your best self. After all, the goal is for you to continuously get better, not to crash and burn after achieving your "goal" and returning to your old ways. Instead, find a way to move that you actually enjoy doing, then do more of this. It could be lifting weights, doing yoga in your room, or even just making your daily hot girl walk a little extra long. Just do whatever's easiest for you.

5. Wear Clothes That Make You Feel Confident
Think you need to follow trends just to fit in and look great? Think again. If there's a certain clothing style you just can't stand on yourself, trying to learn to love it by forcing yourself to wear it will only result in you feeling unhappy (and potentially even insecure). Instead, focus on wearing things that actually make you feel happy and confident, as this is key to being your best self without having to put in a whole lot of effort.

6. Speak Kindly to Yourself
Most of us love a little self-deprecating humor once in a while, but all those mean things you say to yourself about yourself can really start to take a toll, whether you realize it or not. While you still want to remain self-aware, being all around nicer to yourself is a really small change that can go a long way. Try reading or speaking some daily affirmations and giving yourself compliments in your head when you look or feel really good (no matter the reason why). If it feels weird at first, good! Once you get used to speaking kindly to yourself, that's when you start to reap the rewards.
