Elise Eriksen’s ‘Less’ Is the Pop Anthem You Didn’t Know You Were Waiting For
If you don't already know the name Elise Eriksen, you're about to in a big way.
The 17-year-old artist wowed us with the recent release of "Less," featuring Shoffy, which has been a smash hit worldwide, and the music video that debuted yesterday, Dec. 11, has further cemented Elise as an instant icon.
With just one watch, you'll be obsessed with the track. It was co-written by the irreplaceable Julia Michaels, showing her effortlessly profound yet relatable lyricism, and was reworked by Elise to transform it into a pop track backed by a funk bassline courtesy of Blu DeTiger. Through her soulful vocals, Elise weaves a tale about clinging to the last remnants of an unraveling relationship. It cuts deep, without losing the playfulness of the music.
"'Less' speaks about things that are meaningful, but I wanted it to feel upbeat and fun because it has been such a tough year," Elise explained in a press release for the track. "I had such a great time making the video with Shoffy, Blu DeTiger and my friends, and I think it really comes across. It really gives people insight into who I am and what it's like to hang out with me. I hope people enjoy watching it as much as we did making it!"
The stylish music video shows Elise effortlessly maintaining her sense of confidence and self no matter the setting, shifting between the grungy streets and affluence of a big, fancy home to show that no matter what, she's the same Elise. You won't be able to get this song out of your head—or stop watching its fabulous video.
