Emma Watson Is The Future (And Our Woman Crush Wednesday)!
We initially fell in love with Emma Watson when she graced the screen as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, and we're still obsessed with her today as she continues to be on the front lines fighting for gender equality. For this, and a wide array of other reasons, we found it fitting to give Emma the title of our #WCW this week!
Emma waltzed right into our lives and stole our hearts forevermore as Hermione Granger. She was intelligent, brave, the friend we all need in our lives and she kicked major butt! Honestly, we couldn't imagine anyone other than Emma playing her.
And then she did the most spectacular job at bringing Sam from The Perks of Being a Wallflower (only one of our fave books of all time) to life! As Sam, she inspired us to always be our real selves and not be bothered by what others think of us.
We're beyond stoked to see her play Belle in Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast! She's basically Belle IRL already, so there are no doubts that she will deliver one flawless performance.
Emma is also a major fashion goddess! Literally every outfit she wears is so well put together from head to toe. And she cares about how her clothes and accessories were manufactured. Each piece of this outfit was crafted by designers who create safe work environments for their employees and who want to raise awareness of certain issues that are important to each of them on a personal level.
We were so proud of Emma when she made the decision to take a step back from acting and focus on her education at Brown University and Oxford University, ultimately graduating from Brown. Clearly, she's an excellent role model.
Emma was rightfully appointed a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and has been working incredibly hard to bring equality to her fellow females ever since by working with the HeForShe campaign. The world truly is her oyster!
And her HeForShe campaign speech opened the world's eyes, especially men and boys, to the disturbing problem of gender inequality. She's so eloquent!
Recently, Malala Yousafzai, who is only one of the most influential teens in the world right now, even stated that Emma is one of the reasons she isn't afraid to speak her mind about worldwide gender equality. Same, Malala!
