Curious about Disney+ Day? Just keep reading to discover everything we know about the big celebration—so far.
When Is It?
Disney+ Day will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021. The date will actually be the two-year anniversary of the launch of the streaming service, which first graced our devices on the same day back in 2019. That means that in exactly one month from today, you'll be able to tune in and see what Disney has been coming up with.
From Theatre to Disney+
Some of the biggest news surrounding Disney+ Day is the fact that two of Disney's biggest theatrical releases of the year will become available to stream starting on Nov. 12.
First, there's Marvel's box office smash-hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings. Starring Simu Liu as the titular Shang-Chi, it's a spectacular martial arts thriller with great action, a star-studded cast and a ton of heart. Even without the hero being a well-known Marvel character, it managed to bring in audiences, and wow them, too. If you haven't seen it yet, it's one you have to catch on the big day.
Secondly, Disney+ will be dropping Jungle Cruise on the same day. Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Emily Blunt, the exciting film brings the classic Disneyland ride to life with a sense of adventure and fun that's great for the entire family. There's a reason both leads are considered Hollywood royalty, and it's another must-watch for anyone subscribed to Disney+.
What Else Is Coming
In addition to those two great films, there's a ton of other content coming to Disney+ in celebration of the big anniversary. One of the biggest releases will be Home Sweet Home Alone, the sixth installment in the classic Home Alone franchise. This time, a kid named Max (played by Archie Yates of JoJo Rabbit) gets left home alone when his family takes a holiday trip to Japan, and he's forced to defend his home from a couple of married thieves (played by Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney) scheming to steal a priceless heirloom.
Other new releases will include a series of Frozen shorts called Olaf Presents, a Luca-related animated short film called Ciao Alberto and the second season of The World According to Jeff Goldblum. We'll also be getting a new The Simpsons short specifically for Disney+ Day, a Marvel Cinematic Universe Sneak Peek showing us everything we can look forward to from the superhero franchise and the Star Wars: Boba Fett Special giving us even more insight into the classic and beloved Star Wars character, teasing the new series arriving Dec. 29.
But that's not all. Disney+ will also be getting the beloved shorts Frozen Fever, Feast, Get a Horse! and Paperman, which accompanied the theatrical releases of some of our favorite Pixar films. Basically, if you can never find great new content to watch, the platform will have you covered on Nov. 12.
What Else Can We Expect?
Don't just expect Disney+ Day to be celebrated on Disney+ itself. The brand is also planning to take the party outside of the streaming service. Expect to see some unique and original new Disney content on the Disney Channel, ABC and Freeform as well. ShopDisney.com will also have all kinds of special offers just for the day. For now, details on all of this are being kept secret, but we have faith that some exciting things are in store for all of us.
