Everything You Wanted to Know About Tubing Mascara

If we had to pick one makeup item to have always, it would be mascara. Do not underestimate the power of eyelashes has on your look.

That said, there are a lot of issues that can arise from mascara. We have had eczema patches that became more irritated from the makeup. We've also had oily eyelids that disintegrated the product. And that's only scratching the surface of what can happen.

Thankfully, one foolproof item transformed our eye routine—tubing mascara. Continue reading to learn more about our beauty journey with it and have all your questions answered about the viral product.

What Is It?

First things first, let's establish what a tubing mascara is.

According to Farsedakis Beauty Brands, tubing mascara is a formula that "creates tiny polymer tubes around each individual lash," where traditional mascara uses an oil-based paint to tint and thicken the appearance of lashes.

You can apply tubing mascara like your standard mascara. Our method typically includes curling them and applying multiple coats while wet.

Many tubing mascaras have hydrating ingredients, like shea butter, to hydrate your lashes and promote hair growth. Unsurprisingly, they also have a much gentler formula that doesn't flake or clump (more on that later). As a result, tubing mascaras are often recommended by medical professionals.

Does It Look Different Than Traditional Mascara?

You will probably notice a difference between traditional and tubing mascara. Because tubing mascaras add fibers to your lashes, they will look much fuller and longer. It also uses fiber rather than paint, so you'll notice less dryness and clumping, aka the "spider lash" effect.

If you have sweaty eyelids or need to cry, tubing mascara won't run down your face or smudge around your skin, so feel free to break it out on those more emotional days. Or, it can finally become the perfect way to wear a light makeup look to the gym.

However, you must be much more careful when touching and scratching your eyes. When we mess with our eyes while wearing traditional mascara, it flakes at the most. One wrong move with tubing mascara will have all the fibers falling off your lashes, and you'll have to restart from the beginning.

How Do I Remove It?

You can remove tubing mascara the same way you remove traditional mascara. Both micellar water and oil cleansers will effectively wash the product off your lashes.

As a pro tip, our favorite way to clean it is with 30 seconds of warm water. This is usually much gentler on your skin and can prevent wrinkles and thinning.

Beware! You might notice little flakes rolling off your skin. It's not your lashes falling out. It's the tubes sliding off, which is how you know they're effectively removed.

We've noticed less staining around our waterline after removing our tubing mascara compared to traditional mascara. It's how we finally said goodbye to the multiple days of panda eyes after hours of wearing makeup.
